Had on draft for 290 yen at a noodle shop in Shinjuku. It was hot, it was a Saturday afternoon, and this is all they had.
What's there to be said about this beer? In Japan, it's hard to avoid, but of all of the big beers here that don't distinguish themselves one way or another, this is the last one I'd choose to drink. It has very little character and it reminds me more of water than any kind of beer.
This thing had a huge head. The color was the yellow of 1980's beer advertisements. It's served real cold. It's very smooth and doesn't ask your tongue to do any work or thinking when going down. This is a beer that could make you forget that beer is interesting in any way. But, you could easily down a few of these with friends and have fun and kind of forget that you're drinking beer or whatever.
My question is, why is this beer so popular in Japan? Advertising and prevalence would be my guesses.
