Purchased at the LCBO for $3.75 for a 330ml bottle. Served at 7deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a tiny head that is gone in 30sec. Medium gold color and filtered clear

S- Excellent sour citrus scent. Some straw smell

T- Sour. Excellent body and sweet. Has a wheatie taste to it like straw or something like it.

M- Dry and tart like the sour smell.

O- Pretty good. Got an extra for later but don't want to buy too many more so I can save money for different beer. Good but not great. As a sour goes very good.

Food Pairing

This nice little beer went well with...... Ahi tuna with red onions, avocado, lemon mixed with soy sauce topped with roasted sesame seeds

Enjoy

Poured from 11.4 oz bottle into pint glass

A - Bright, crystal clear pale straw body. No lacing despite a fizzy head.

S - Granny smith apple, oak, wild honey, and a slight funk.

T - The honey-like malt sweetness hits the tongue first, almost fooling you into thinking it is an average beer. Then, apple, old lemon, and musky grape tartness envelope the palate. Then, a remarkable almost champagne - like dryness accompanied by buttery oak and slight horse hair funk. The finish leaves a bit of a pucker on the lips and lingering notes of fruit.

M - Remarkably thin for the ABV. Somewhat buttery feeling like a chardonnay, though.

O - A great beer.for those who like complex white wines. A solid mix of sour, oak barrel, fruit, and funk.

Tart Apple goodness with a bit of oak. Dry as hell and keeps you wanting more. Very well done.

I have not seen this beer before at the LCBO, so I jumped all over it. Bought two bottles.
What a mistake!
Just an awful tasting beverage. Sour and bitter in an atrocious combination. If this is the best Petrus has to offer (and according to people around here, that is the case), I will stay far, far away from them.
Horrible.
One of only a couple of beers that was poured down the drain.

Poured from a 25.4oz bottle into a 16oz Belgian glass.

Appearance - 5/5
A beautifuli golden-yellow orange, lots of head. Very clear. Lots of carbonation moving up the glass. It looks like a lively and exciting beer.

Smell - 3.75/5
Sour fruit, perhaps apples and berries. Some light hops, light breadiness, and light spice. The aroma is not very strong though, I would like it to be more intense.

Taste - 3.75/5
Very sweet (perhaps too sweet for some), tart, apples and cherries. Some light spiciness. I'm not sure if it's my glassware (it's a new Belgian glass I just got), but the taste seems to have metallic aspects, which I'm not sure quite fit in this beer. More overall assesment of the taste is that it is good, but could definitely be improved on. The tart flavor is not as complex or as prominent as I would like it too be. Perhaps the slightly excessive sweetness masks some of the tart flavors. Also, I would remove the metallic flavor. Also, this was supposed to be a pale (at least according to the name), but I didn't really taste any of those flavors.

Mouthfeel - 4/5
Medium bodied, smooth but quite crisp. A medium amount of medium-high intensity carbonation.

Overall - 3.75/5
Overall this was a good beer, but it wasn't everything I was hoping for. The taste was good, but I would tweak it a bit as described above. Also, I would like more of a pale ale aspect to this beer. If you want a sour pale ale, get Jolly Pumpkin's Luciernaga instead of this. If you don't care about the pale ale aspect, this beer will be cheaper than Luciernaga. Also, after looking it up, this beer is classified by BA as a Flanders Oud Bruin, whereas Luciernaga is a Belgian Pale. I guess that explains the differences.
