Pours clear and golden but with a minimal head that fades very quickly.

The aroma is very much tart fruit. It may look like honey but the aroma reminds me of tart cherries mixed with that honey along with some vanilla notes that I associate with oak.

Some of that same tart cherry flavor but there's more honey flavor than cherry and something that almost reminds me of green apples. Seriously tart! The vanilla notes from the oak are also strong here.

Medium to light body with very prickly carbonation.

This is my first 'sour' and I'm not sure it's really for me. It's not bad and it's certainly drinkable but it's maybe just a little bit too much on the sour side for my taste buds. It would probably be exceptional to me with just a touch more balancing sweetness.

Pours a hazy light honey orange with a large 3 inch foamy off-white head that settles to a thin cap. Random chunks of lace form on the glass on the drink down. Smell is tart, sour, and funky with a slight metallic aroma. Taste is of sour/tart fruit up front with a malt aftertaste. This beer has a higher level of carbonation with a crisp and slightly acidic mouthfeel. Very bubbly but it works with the flavors. Overall, this is a good beer with some nice tart flavors but it's a bit pricey at $4.50 for less than 12 ounces.

An 11.2 oz. bottle purchased at the Boise Co-op. Poured into a Deschutes tulip.

Pours a translucent gold with about an inch of foamy, pure white head. The bubbles dissipate quickly, leaving small patches of lacing. The aroma is of tart fruits, specifically apple, lending a cider-like scent. A bit of funky yeast is mixed in with light grains (straw, hay, some wheat), and it finishes with a vague hint of wood. It tastes of tart apple, some pear, the muddled grains, some lemon citrus, and a dry oaken finish. The barrel makes is presence known towards the end. Mouthfeel is crisp, but finishes rather dry from the acidity and seemingly the barrel treatment. Overall, an enjoyable offering, but not one I'm too likely to pick up again at $4/11.2 oz.

11.2oz bottle poured into a New Belgium globe.

A: Golden colored with a touch of haze & foamy white lacing.

S: Citric acid and some lactose tartness, light funk and herbal fruitiness. Light vanilla and oak underneath that.

T: Lemon juice at the front, unfolding into decent citric tartness and juiciness. Light pale malt character, astringent, with a mild oak presence to accompany the tart apple and lemon notes.

MF: Astringent, light carbonation, light to medium carbonation, dry tartness from start to finish.

O: Though not overwhelming in its tartness, this is definitely a sipper. Overall its not bad, begs (in my opinion) to be paired with a creamy Brie cheese. Not my favorite style.

No vintage or bottling date markings, but this seems to be a new batch. "Best before 28/03/13"

A: Big, cloud-like head over a clear orange with lots of active bubble.

S: Lemon, hay, light barnyard, whisper of mushroom. A hint of tropical fruit. To my nose, a lot more like gueuze than Flanders brown.

T: moderate tartness, good malt structure under it. Still a bit of sweetness to this. Apple, lemon. Tasty, but a bit simple.

M: moderate astringency, good carbonation, good linger.

O: Nice overall, easy drinkability, good price point, lacks the complexity of the top examples of the style.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass. Good till July 18th 2013.

Off the pour, a very shampoo and foamy like head that slowly falls with a simple white color. Body color is quite crystal clear but also really brassy colored and shining. The body looks practicaly polished. Some rising carbonation from the middle, with some minor large sticking cola sized bubbles.

Sweet and tart Welch's white grape on the nose. Really not much else. The sweet sense seems to be primary and dominant.

Taste is a big sharp, almost hot, but mostly large quick sour, then moves to a refreshing lemon tartness. Hot bitter comes to the finish with an interesting almost crisp quenching quality. Apple tastes and tart tang come after a few sips, and particularly on the finish.

Overall an interesting beer, not much of a malt action on this though, high abv is well masked and hidden.

750ml Bottle into a Goblet

A- Pours a crystal clear copper orange with 1 finger off fluffy white head that isn't going anywhere. Leaves some decent lacing on the sides of the glass and tons and tons of carbonation streaming up from the bottom.

S- Pale malts with slight hints of belgian yeast notes, citrus, slight tart funk, hay, oak, vinegar, green apple, and slight hops.

T- Nice and tart up front with lots of green apple and pear with subtle notes of musty oak. Definitely some citrus flavors in there like orange peel or lemon zest and a tropical hop fruitiness that's faded. Not bad

M- Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation and a nice tart dry finish. Great session sour

Skål!

10 oz tap pour into a Duvel tulip at Bnieman's parents.

A - Clear golden yellow in color with a large white head. Puffy and long-lasting, it coats the glass in thin, wispy lace.

S - Pale malt and acidic sourness pull through with light oaky undertones. Aged Pale smells crisp, tart, and refreshing.

T - Sour acidic and pale malt up front with a crisp, lemony hopped finish.

M - Deliciously sour, perfectly carbonated, crisp and refreshing, this light-bodied pale is really a sour joy to drink!

O - A brilliant beer at a brilliant price-point, I could put pint after pint of this back...oh wait. That's what we're doing here...
