Poured two fingers of tan head on a dark reddish/brown colored body.
The aroma is bold and rich: caramel, oak and wet hay. Simple, but nice.
The taste has caramel and a malt sweet beginning, moving to a mild bitter and then sour bite to end. Enjoyable, though the sour did not blend well with the profile.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation, a bit fizzy.
Enjoyable and different.

Ruby-brown, clean and clear, fade-away head - more or less on... The first thing to notice is how it lacks the intense, smacking tart of their pale - not wrong to compare, as the (yeast-)flavor profile is certainly similar.... Even as you let this sit and sit, the aromas and flavors merely suggest oxidation and subtle lacto-tartness - nothing hits you over the head, no watering of the mouth.... In fact, this drinks with very much reduced (in this case, sour-cherry) fruitiness / maltiness to balance compared to other popular takes on the style.... Makes this a little less dimensional - it faintly fills on intake, feathery not dirty-silky, only to fade immediately, dry with only a delicate touch of malt in the finish.... If you are turned off by bold fruity/malty contrast in this style, this may be for you.

A: deep mahogany in color with a beige frothy head.

S: caramel, soy sauce, and balsamic vinegar are all present in the bouquet.

T: malty sweet, with a touch of sour to balance. Very enjoyable.

M: medium body with a touch of carbonation. No flaws, but not exactly exciting.

D: a good example of the style, as well as a good intro to sour brews.

330ml Bottle from the Las Vegas Whole Foods for $5

Appearance - Burgundy/brown colour with an average size fizzy/frothy beige head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some faint lacing. The head lasted for 3-4 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Malts, wood, vinegar

Taste & Mouth - There is an above average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, citric notes and raspberries/cherries. There is also some vinegar, wood, and it ends with a lightly tart aftertaste.

Overall - Not as much barrel/wood type flasvour as I was expecting. Also not as tart/sour as most beers within this style. Flavours are nice though and it is easy to drink.
