Darker than blond, more copper/orange, and hazy; small head forms

Pleasant Euro hop aroma that’s a bit floral, as well as creamy-sweet malt component

Flavor and body are super smooth. I’m initially struck by how perfectly full and soft the texture is. And the flavor is really well balanced with its not overly sweet malt and floral hops playing nicely together. It’s seemingly simple in flavor but certainly not simplistic. Leaves a fruity and toffee aftertaste.

This is a really good beer! Of all the Petrus beers in my variety pack, this one’s my favorite (with Aged Pale a close second). I look forward to finding this on tap somewhere and enjoying it again.

Got it from Belgium. Bottle 0,33l.

A - Really nice orange color, low carbonation, almost no foam. One finger at first, but quick settled.
S - Almost nothing. Some pale lager smell.
T/M - Taste is much better. Lots of bitter honey aftertaste aroma. Medium carbonation. Some spices.

O - Untypical Belgian Ale,at least for me. Didn't expect so ordinary and low aromatic beer.

From a 330 ml bottle (label says 41463) into a tulip.

A-A normal pour produces about one and one-half fingers of off-white head. The head drops quickly to a cap, but cap stays around for two minutes (maybe more) and leaves some decent lacing on the glass. The beer is light-golden/orange and nearly clear. There is some visible carbonation in there.

S-The aroma is moderately strong, but the Euro hops have a bit of skunkiness to them and the result is Euro lager-like. There is some also slightly sweet fruit like apple, but main flavor is pale malt and toasted grain. I get just a hint of Belgian yeast, but very little banana or clove or other typical "Belgian" flavors. l

T-The taste is pretty similar to the smell. There is just a bit of sweet, lightly tart fruit (apples mostly) to balance the dull, almost metallic pale malts and vague hops. The finish has a bit of bitterness with dry-straw hop flavors. There is just a slight hit of Belgian yeast on the mid-palate, but very little else going on.

M-The feel is light to medium in heft with a good amount of carbonation. This is quite crisp for a Belgian beer.

O-Aside from Aged Pale, I have really struggled to enjoy the Bavik beers. This one strays dangerously close to looking, smelling, tasting, and feeling like a Jupiler. The flavor is assertive, but the individual flavors do not mesh well and the result feels a bit like a cheap lager. Oh well.

Pours golden straw with foamy white head that quickly settles. Effervescent.
Aroma is wheat-like and slightly bready.
Leather and wood notes in the taste. Slight banana in the middle.
Mouthfeel: medium bodied with carbonation tingle.
Overall: Okay. It balances out as it warms … but woodsy bitterness dominates.
