750 ml from the beer of the month club.

Opened it and a large portion of the bottle came rushing right out. Luckily I had read it was going to happen so i didnt get it all over the floor. After it calmed down a bit and I poured a glass, there must have been 3 inches of head on the thing. I decapitated it and poured the rest. Lemony yellow in color and quite clear. Tons of bubbles, like a champagne. Very effervescent. Taste is only ok to me. Smells better than it tastes. Smell is citrus and lemon, but the taste is more like hay and bread. Hides the alcohol well, and loosens up a bit as it warms. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again.

Pours a golden color with a big sticky white head that stuck around. In fact this one gushed like crazy when opened

Aroma is a little bit of an oily floral hop bouquet along with some spice and Belgian malts.

Tastes like a Belgian pale. Lots of pepper and pilsen malt with a little bit of an earthy bitterness.

Light mouthfeel although there is some oily body to this. Despite the gushing upon popping the cork, carbonation levels were medium.

Not horrible, just kind of mediocre. Worth trying, but wouldn't seek it out.

A: The beer is hazy pale yellow in color and poured with a half finger high head that has good retention properties and never completely faded away.
S: The smell is sour and has notes of floral and grassy hops.
T: The taste is very similar to the smell and also has some notes of peppery spices.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate to high amount of carbonation with some dryness in the finish.
O: Considering its strength, this beer is very easy to drink because the alcohol is well hidden from the taste. It is a good blend of Belgian and American styles.

Poured from 750 mL bottle into tulip.
A: Pours a clear pale lemon with massive carbonation producing an overly large head. About 2 inches of beer and 4+ inches of bubbly, billowy white head. Too much.
S: Sour, tart, citrus, lemon, and piney hops. In the background sits a hint of belgian spice, black pepper, sweet malt, and mild funk.
T: Sweet citrus--orange and grapefruit, spicy hops, lime, floral notes, and hints of a Flemish sour. Not quite as much here as the aroma.
M: Super light body plus loads of fizzy carbonation creates an almost ethereal feel...the beer feels as if it's lifting off your tongue and taking flight. Sweetly spicy with dry and mildly bitter hops. Sour and tart notes enter intermittently. Definitely unique here...and, in my opinion, lovely.
D: At first I wasn't sure what to think about this intriguing brew. It grew on me though and I would definitely recommend it if you want to try an "interesting" beer. Highly drinkable and would pair well with spicy fare.

Poured from the bottle into a tasting snifter.

Appearance: Pours mostly clear golden amber color with tons of off white carbonation. The head sticks around for the whole pour.

Smell: Mild Belgian yeast spice with some citrusy hops. There is a strong presence from the grain.

Taste: Light and very herbal. Lots of spice from the Belgian yeast. I'm getting some aged hops. The sweetness balances everything out. The hop bitterness builds through the finish.

Mouthfeel: The body is medium with tons of carbonation and a dry finish.

Overall: I thought this was pretty good and easy to drink. A good combination of flavors.

Look: Straw yellow in color with a 1 inch white frothy head and exceptional retention and lots of carbonation bubbles

Smell: Clove pear and peach with some grassy notes on the finish

Taste: Lots of pear upfront with some straw/grassy note with a slightly sour finish

Mouthfeel: Light body and tons of carbonation with just a hint of tartness

Overall: I really enjoyed this beer and I think this is one of the beer colab's I have personally had

Appearance: Pours a clear, pale gold into a tulip, topped with a huge fluffy white head. As the head slowly dissipates, it leaves nice sheets of lacing on the glass.

Smell: Definitely very interesting -- American hop aromas of citrus and pine pair with Belgian yeast notes that include suggestions of black pepper. Other tripel-like aromas are lurking about, and a mellow alcohol warmth.

Taste: Whoa! This is really something. The hops are front and center, but their dominance results not in excessive bitterness, but rather in a very fine dryness. The citrus flavors from the hops that appeared in the nose manifest themselves in the mouth more definitively as tart limes. The Belgian yeasts haven't gone anywhere, of course, and work their magic with a subtle spiciness. The finish hints at, but doesn't go all the way in the direction of, a Flemish sour ale. Very nice.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied, which works perfectly with the tastes to make this a very refreshing drink.

Drinkability: Very high. The dryness and subtle tartness, combined with the light mouthfeel, makes this a highly quaffable beer.

Pours a hazed golden yellow, obnoxiously fills the glass with 75% head, even with a gentle pour, takes a while before it settles enough to top off and drink. Scent is floral and bright citrus with fresh dried grain and tangy wheat, splash of fleshy apple and pear. Taste again brings lemony citrus and floral notes, apple and pear a little more forward, solid peppery spice, moderate yeasty notes, solid fresh dried grain backbone. Aside from the huge plume of head, the beer is not too bubbly, medium bodied, bone dry finish. The nightmarish head was one of the major detractors, keeping this from being excellent.

Pours a clean yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, big pine like hops. In the taste, starts with pine hops and ends to a grapefruity citrus hop. A nice hop bite and medium bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry grapefruit rind in the aftertaste. Yea, Belgian IPA, nice big hops and nice all day!

Served in a Paulaner krug.

Another limited brew that we cracked whilst warming the house of some friends. Good times. It pours a lightly cloudy pale straw topped by over a finger of white foam. The nose comprises banana peel, honeydew rind, black pepper, clove, light orange peel, wheat, lemon zest, and a touch of honey. The taste holds notes of lightly tart lemon zest, banana, light nutmeg, sour wheat, flowers, sweetgrass, and white bread. The body is a light medium, with a moderate carbonation and a pretty dry finish. Overall, I felt this beer fell a little flat. The sour notes didn't come through all that well, and when they did they were drowned out by the overly-wheaty tripel notes. Not bad, really, just not all that great, either.

Pours an effervescent golden straw color with a large white head. Excellent aroma of spice and yeast with tons of bread and biscuit malts. It’s mildly dry with a nice floral character. The flavor is moderately sweet with a strong maltiness. The finish is dry with lots of yeast, spice, and floral notes. Really enjoyable, crisp, and refreshing.

I got this at BJ's brewhouse and was delighted to see BJ's and Bavik joing forces to make a fine Belgian beer.

Apperance: Pours a lively Champagne color with a towering four finger head that sits there like meringue.

Smell: a wonderful bouquet of spices and floral hops with some baked fruitiness.

Taste: swirling with complexity with notes of candied fruits, cloves, and spices.

Mouthfeel: smooth and quaffable with a crisp finish.

This is a great collaboration between a worthy restaurant/brewhouse and a true Belgian brewery!

1007th Review on BA
Bottle to Bruery Tulip
750 ML

2011 Seasonal for $12.95

App- A golden yellow with a lot of shimmer behind it. A bit of a gusher out of the bottle. A big 3 finger pure white head sat for quite a while. A small amount of cling that fell to a nice pond layer of bubbles.

Smell- A bit buttery like a Biere De Garde. Had a nice oily hop aroma behind it. A little bitter from those hops as well. A bit of a champagne like bubbly yeast.

Taste- This really didnt taste like a Tripel to me. This really had the flavors of a Belgian Strong Pale Ale. A little more hoppy bitter on the taste. Very spicy peppery with a lot of yeast as well. A little bit dry and earthy.

Mouth- A lighter medium body with a medium carbonation. Very yeasty residual flavors with a bit of that butter flavor from the nose.

Drink- Pretty good for a collaboration. I would say that the buttery Biere De Garde flavors bring it down a little bit.

750ml bottle poured into snifter. Purchased at BJ Restaurant.

A: Pours a lightly hazy pale lemon-golden with a billowing, thick, dense, bright white head that took forever to fade into a thick fluffy film that left sheets of sticky lacing down the glass.
S: Huge notes of chalky Belgian yeast, spices, lemon zest, peach, clove and pears. Smells good.
T: Follows the nose with flavors of chalky, earthy, spicy yeast notes and sweet fruits. I’m getting some great flavors of ripe bananas that I wasn’t picking up on the nose. The finish is lightly sweet, spicy and has a good dose of earthy grassy hops, and the aftertaste is dry with a light sourness. Peach, pear, apricot and clove come through as well.
M: Fluffy carbonation, medium body, with a chewy, thick, and drying mouthfeel.
O: I was surprised by this one. Nothing super special but there’s nothing wrong with it either. A very solid tripel.

Pours a clear golden with a huge white head. Aromas of grain, and some vinegar. Taste begins with tart, almost green apple flavor, then some phenolics. After that is some light cracker. The finish is dry, but acidic. Mouthfeel is average. Overall a good tripel, a bit more tart and funky than most.
