Pour from a 330 into a tulip. I have nothing to add to other reviews regarding appearance of color, head, retention. I will say that the cherry, sour, and any malty sweetness are more subtle compared to other red flemmish. The sweet seems to have more of a fruit genesis than malt. I prefer a sharper, more sour beer from this category.

Appearance: Pours with a finger of light red head. Bright active carbonation continued to regenerate the head. The color is dark maroon. Very pretty beer.

Smell: Cherries and purple grapes bring mild tartness and massive sweetness. The front reminds me of Juicy Fruit juice I used to drink as a kid. Mild oak and cedar chips move their head through the sweetness. Some mossy and vegetal notes are very subtle on the finish.

Taste: The sweetness leads on the aroma and follows suit here, except it is not as well received. Cherries lead on the front and the oak gives the fruit profile a shade of darkness. Jam sweetness follows and continues to come in waves onto the finish. Tartness feels like it is going to come on then fades. Finish is lingering oaked cherries.

Mouthfeel: For how sweet it is the palate doesn't get overwhelmed. Oak textures help on that front and also providing some welcome dryness long after drinking.

Overall: Not really what I was expecting, but still very solid. I think I changed my mind on this beer with every waft and sip. Certainly only an every once in a while beer, but something that keeps the palate on its toes.

The chaliced beer arrived a dark mahogany color with a thin layer of bubbles exuding fumes of soured fruits. Difficult to identify any particulars. Strong sour notes on the palate, however it was void of complexity and balance. Drinkable, OK I suppose, but could use a little TLC.

Bottle purchased and drank at Joe Bean Coffee Roasters in Rochester, NY.

Pours out a deep dark, almost blood red, but fairly clear. There's a small fizzy head, with no lacing.

Smells like tart but sweet cherries, and not much else. Smells quite strong and fruity.

The taste is slightly more complex, but it's still mostly a cherry bomb. Mostly sweet, with a late tartness, some red wine flavors, and a bit of oak. Every but the cherry flavor is mild here. I wish it was a little bit more sour.

This one is fairly light bodied, with a fruity, juicy mouthfeel, and a low amount of carbonation.

Interesting but not really complex enough as a Belgian red.
