Very easy to drink at 8%. I downed all four bottles I bought.
The cherry was not overwhelmingly strong nor to weak which I appreciate.
I notice from some of the reviews here some folk wished it to be sour but if you read the style of beer it can go from sour to not at all and anywhere in between.
This beer was recommended to me by where I buy my beer sometimes after he saw I bought a 4 pack of Petrus's Goulden Tripel. I shall return there to thank him.

Appearance: deep, dark red velvet cake look topped off with a thin but long lasting pinkish head.

Aroma: cherry throat lozenges. surprisingly obvious "cherry" smell

Taste: candy sour cherry but somehow not the kind of sour I wanted.

Mouthfeel: The most enjoyable aspect of this beer. Nice, smooth carbonation.

Overall: Really leaves an impression so points for that but also somewhat dissapointing. Not what I expected from Petrus. An 11oz. bottle seemed like too much. Would drink it again in a smaller portion. Possibly with a dessert/cheeses or by itself after dinner. Could also be interesting mixed with a wheat beer or stout.

A: Mahogany liquid with 1/8" tan head.

S: Cherries, cherries and more cherries.

T: Cherries, toffee, grass, and lactic sourness. Quite sweet.

M: Medium viscosity and a medium level of carbonation for the style.

O: This almost seems more like a Flanders Red than an Oud Bruin. But it is enjoyable.

Appearance is deep red with nice clarity and splotchy head. Nose is full of candied cherry with mild tart notes throughout. The fruit definitely tames the sour of the base and adds a great deal of sweetness. Taste is sweet up front and still sweet at the end with a slight tartness. Mouthfeel is light and well carbonated. Overall, the fruit is too artificial and sweet for my liking. It makes an otherwise delicious beer run of the mill.

Petrus Aged Red is a really strange beer to add to the Petrus line up. It's a good beer for sure. Not great, but certainly tasty. The problem is that it is not sour at all. Petrus Aged Red is a sweet, cherry forward beer. There's almost no hint of tartness at all in there. I enjoyed it, but couldn't help but think about how much better it would be if it were just a little tart as I drank it.

Poured out a deep burgundy. The head sticks around a little. Looks good for the style.

Cherry syrup, red grape, maltiness, light raisin, and a hint of vanilla. Not really picking up much of any barrel, so it may have sat in steel. Overpowering sweet black cherry. Slight strawberry, but artificially so.

Tart cherry, slightly medicinal. Particularly malty and rich for the style. Notes of prune, red grape, and raisin. There are flavors of toffee and vanilla, but it's really driven by the black cherry. Not a hell of a lot of complexity, and it's too sweet to let any sourness come through, but it's tasty and very very cherry.

Drinks with a slurp. Weighted medium body. Lower carbonation. I enjoy sipping it.

A decent kriek. An okay oud bruin. I wanted to judge the cherry character, but it's somewhat legit. A little too sweet, but the maltiness is nice.

First had: on tap at TJ's, Paoli, PA

This one seems to be getting a bad rap, but I quite liked it as a finishing/dessert beer.

Dark reddish-brown pour, with a moderate off-white head that receded to a thick ringlet, and left a bit of lacing on the glass. Not sure why this is classified as an oud bruin when it's more of a Flanders red, but oh well. Aroma thick with cherry candy, and not a whole lot else. Taste of cherry pie and cherry candy, caramel malts, moderately medicinal, but nothing really different than you might get from a Rodenbach Grand Cru or Kasteel Rouge. Some tartness, but I really wouldn't call it a defining characteristic. Medium body, and pretty easily drinkable...for a dessert beer; I wouldn't start a session with it, or drink it at any other time really, unless I was really in the mood.

I mixed a little bit in a separate glass with some Voodoo Cowbell, and it was quite dandy.
