I'm not pouring this. I'm drinking this straight from the bottle. How many other Henry drinkers are going to bother pouring their beers? NONE! Henry drinkers get the product because it is lower priced than all the microbrews and slightly tastier than the macrobrews. It's that step between, but isn't quite right. This is not an IPA at all. I'm not tasting hops, I'm not sure what I'm tasting but it's kinda bitter and chemically... It's like I'm drinking High Fructose Hops Syrup... It's easy enough to drink though and feels okay on the mouth, but is clearly not something I would choose to repeat drinking. If you're going to bother getting a cheap IPA, somehow the Pyramid Thunderhead IPA comes a lot closer, and I really don't like Pyramid. Chalk this beer up to pretty much useless. It's going to give people a bad impression of what an IPA is supposed to be. GOOD JOB HENRY! KEEP UP THE BAD WORK!

12 ounce bottle

Pours typical looking lighter almond amber, light khaki head, that stays nicely. Moderate strips of lace left behind on the glass.

Light bread on the sniff with minor hops also present.

Pleasant enough "IPA", this really fits more in as a pale ale, for what that's worth. Moderate resinous hops, pared with a touch of caramel late. Nothing special, but this a passable sessioner and/or a good one for you to turn newbies onto craft beer with.

Had on tap at TBones--Plymouth--served into a pint glass

Appearance: 1/4 inch head, golden-brown in color, clear, low carbonation

Smell: citrus and soapy hops

Taste: caramel, husk, citrus and soapy hops

Mouthfeel: sweet start with a light bitter middle and a stronger bitter end, light bodied, moderate carbonation

Overall: An average if not slightly timid IPA that drinks a bit more like a strong pale ale. This is not a beer I would turn down, but not one I would go out of my way for either.

12 oz bottle dated 2 Dec. 2012 served in a Sam Adams lager glass.

Pours a sparkling and deep amber with a well-proportioned, creamy tan head. The head is not very durable, as is common with IPAs.

The aroma is rather subtle for style; definitely more like a pale ale. It is more flavorful than suggested by the nose, but here too it falls into the weak-for-style category. Earthy/resiny hops and not at all fruity.

M: medium body and carbonation. Slightly harsh given style and ABV. Some dryness in finish.

O: a so-so IPA, at best; better if though of as a rich APA.

pours a 1/8" initially weak head, slippery slightly coated lacing. pours an apple cider color into a solid amber body with copper tint.

hella hoppy, piney, floral. slightest touch of citrus makes it light and pleasant on the nose.

hoppy with a tongue punch that definitely stays around. sort of sour.

metallic, robust on-bringing, hops linger on the palette for a while. wet-turned-to-dry finish.

not a bad IPA, especially at 5.50 a 6 pack (tax included).

Small white head quickly dies to a decent bubble filled lacing above a clear bright copper golden colored beer.

Very light slightly citrusy hops aroma.

Light bittering effect with this light citrusy hops tasting beer that has just a touch of some malts contained within it.

Light drying aftertaste with just a touch of the citrus sticking around with this light to medium bodied IPA.

I kind of liked the bittering dry aftertaste, even way more so than the beer itself, pretty weird.

This IPA pours a warm golden yellow just shy of what I think a good IPA should look like. The head is fizzy and deflated, fading quickly to a thin skim of bubbles. Average start.

The nose isn't much better. It's a mix of grains and muted hops with a subtle hint of wet dog. Not a great scent and really not much of a discernible profile.

Taste is slightly better then the nose but just barely. The malts carry the weight of the flavor profile but there isn't much of a hop taste. Boo! The wet dog is there but not as apparent as in the noses. This is a not a great beer.

Mouthfeel is by far the best part and still far from my favorites. Finally the hops come through with a little, and I mean little pinch and bitterness. This is just an ok beer and one I would probably cook with but not look forward to drinking again.

This beer pretty much epitomizes amber. It's clear and displays continual bubbling from the bottom of the glass. The head that develops almost reaches one finger, retains itself fairly well, and remains as a pretty sturdy foam that leaves a modicum of lacing in a mixture of patching and spotting.
The smell is, to be honest, a bit nondescript. There's more hoppiness, albeit still fairly light, than is found in the flavor. There's a floral and faintly citrus element to it, but a light fruit element ends up pulling through most strongly.
At first almost entirely fruity and grainy with very little hops presence to speak of, it begins below average. Some hoppiness gets coaxed out as it sits, however, giving floral, herbal and, again, faintly citrus notes. This beer remains, however, a malt-forward IPA.
The feel is pretty good, though crispness fades off from the middle of each sip to the finish. The body is also fairly light, though it creeps toward medium. Carbonation is moderate.

Appearance - Pours a clear, brilliant golden orange with a white finger width head. Average retention leaves behind a thin, semi-sticky lacing.

Smell - Earthy, peppery tones. Floral hops.

Taste - Earthy, grainy malts upfront. A touch of peppery spice. Citrus hops kick in soon after and become the dominant force. Aftertaste is mild orange peel.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body. Carbonation is a tad on the low side. Fairly smooth.

Overall - This IPA won't win any awards, but offers more than one should expect considering the price point. Similar to their Private Reserve, but with a more noticeable amount of citrus hop bitterness that holds well into the aftertaste.

A - see through caramel amber with a light, white head

S - faint citrus, faint crystal malts

T - faint bread, faint citrus, lightly spicy hops

M - light to medium bodied, well carbonated

This is a rather disappointing IPA. Nothing about this beer is forward or very pronounced. The body is a bit too light. The flavor is too subdued with a mediocre hop character. There just isn't here that makes me want to ever try this again.

Pours a deep, clean amber. Huge, off-white head of carbonation. Lovely lace, too.

Nose is adjunct grains and some citrus hops. Not altogether terrible, but not quite there, either…

Taste is heavily malted, but with some hops notes most definitely popping through, I get a dry, vegetal, oily citrus hops finish. Overall, not too impressive for an American IPA, but as a pale ale or English IPA, this one covers most of it's bases.
