Clear amber colored ale with a decent tan colored head.

Smell is malty with a good caramel scent. Grassy and woody hop aroma. Smells nutty and has a toasted grain aroma.

Starts out slightly sweet and malty with a good flavor of caramel and nuts. Some toasted grain flavor and grassy hop.

Mouthfeel is good.

Overall this is a pretty good ale. VERY surprised by this one. I wasn't expecting much but this is far better than any $5.99 a six pack beer you could hope for. I absolutely will buy again.

Pours a clear, copper color. One inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt, caramel malt, hint of roasted malt, hint of nut, slight hop, hint of metallic, and a hint of pale malt. Fits the style of an American Amber / Red Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, pale malt, caramel malt, hint of roasted malt, slight hops, and a hint of metallic flavors. Overall, good appearance and aroma, the metallic notes notwithstanding a good amber.

12oz bottle poured into an Imperial pint glass. The date on the bottle reads December 31, 2012 but I believe its a best by date.

A - Small cap of off-white head with some big bubbles falls to a small cap. The beer has great clarity and is a light amber. Small bit of lacing left.

S - Pleasant bouquet of citrus hops is most forward. They also seem to have a melon character as well. Some biscuit malts are there but understated.

T - Malt has a better edge here with some toasty flavors that hold throughout. Hops still play a big role following along with the smell. The hops are citrus-like but somewhat earthy. Has a bit of bitterness to it that starts about midway through. Finishes somewhat dry but with a nice balance of hops and malt after.

M - Medium to medium-light body, moderate carbonation, semi-dry.

O - Unsure what exactly to make of this beer. Had a solid aroma with a focus on hop character. Flavor was right there as well but in both fields seemed to be off-balanced. Could have used more malt emphasis and dimension within. Good drinkability but nothing I would recommend or buy again.

A: The beer is clear amber in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high beige colored head that died down a bit but consistently left a thin head covering the surface.
S: Very light aromas of caramel malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but has much more stronger initial flavors of caramel and toasted malts along with notes of earthy hops towards the finish. There are some hints of sweetness from the malts but the hops provide a slight amount of counteracting bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has a great mouthfeel, but seems like it could use more hop bitterness to help balance out all of the malts.

Pours a clean orange-ish to amber color with an off white head. In the aroma, a sweet, small caramel roast that is quite faint. In the taste, mostly dry, sticky sweet to a dry caramel like malt. A small bite and a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry, sticky skunky hop. EH! Skunky hops, quite lagery for an ale.

Henry Weinhard's Redwood Flats Amber from Hood River, OR.

This beer was a semi-sweet red amber ale. I thought it was a good amount of sweetness. Good taste. Not much of a smell.

I drank it out of a bottle from Kroger in Knoxville, TN on 12/18/2012 from a create your own 6-pack.

Yes.

Pours a clear amber color with a pure white foamy head of maybe one finger.

The smell is caramel, malty, grainy, and toasted bread... with a little sweetness and hops on the back end.

The taste follows the nose.... sweet and crisp with nice bready malt flavor. There is a bit of hopiness on the finish.

While this is not a top notch ale it does not disappoint.... light and refreshing and flavorful. One you could drink many of every day.

A: Tarnished ruby-orange with a neat clarity. Frothy dirty white head sits a finger high with several minutes of stay. Thin film ring encompasses the vessel for lacing of average regards.

S: Light dried apple skin fruitiness, and i do mean light. Light wiff of crystal malt is brief with a soft flowery hop touch. Really isnt alot to go on here.

t: Flavor is a munich-caramel freshness, toasty sweet of light to moderate intentions. A bit of flowery cascade hops provide just the faintest bit of hop awareness. There is a bit of a metallic nature as well that is present.

M: some malt substance, a bit syrupy and slick in texture with a toasted warmth, but overall just an average experience.

O: Overall a moderate flavor, some toasted grain mention, hops are a bit restrained, but after recently sampling thier ipa and classic pale lager this is somewhat of a relief showing some flavor and backbone support in their beers. A no thrill downer for the non-discrimintory red beer drinker.

Found at mix a six at Kroger

Bottle poured into pint

This is the nail in the coffin for me concerning this brewery. I do not think their beers are for me. They are way too sweet for my tastes.

The overall first smell is of malt, I can barely get a whiff of the cascade hops they use.

Taste: Cherry at the begining, hop in the middle, and a long sweet finish

Mouthfeel: thin and watery

Overall, this beer is too sweet for me; I felt like I was drinking Woodchuck or a sweeter cider.

I probably would only try another Weinhard beer unless it was on draught. They are just too sweet for me.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

Something about the words "redwood" and "flats" just leads me to think they wouldn't describe the same place, even if they cooperate... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear light copper topped by a finger of off-white foam. The nose comprises mild toffee, slightly sweet grain, and light grass. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a light twinge of orange peel in the background. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a generally fluid feel. Overall, a nice, if kinda boring, little amber. It's not something I would readily reach for, but also something I wouldn't actively repel.
