A - dark brown/red, opaque, cloudy after I swirled in the sediment, not much of a head, just a thin ring, no lacing
S - big malty nose, tart cherries, light clove, hint of smoke
T - more of the same as the aroma, definite smoky presence (goes away after warming), very malty, but not cloying, definitely taste the alcohol, though it is well integrated, aftertaste is cherries soaked in alcohol
M - med body, well attenuated, med low carbonation, yet somehow still "prickly," very smooth alcohol, and lots of it
D - about as drinkable as 12% can get, very close to a belgian dark strong
In a blind taste test, I'm almost certain I would classify it as a belgian dark strong. There is almost no similarity between this and the regular weizenbock, though both are great in their own right. Tasty as can be, intense flavours, but the huge alcohol slows you down in a hurry. So be it. I thought German brewers didn't make extreme beers?

A: Dark maple syrup brown, cloudy, a finger of light beige head, opaque so can’t see any carbonation.
S: Very weizen like, dark fruits like dates and figs, ripe bananas, floral, black pepper, ripe banana peels, a slight fermented fruit.
T: Big weizen flavours, dark fruit, dates and figs, ripe bananas, tannic, sweet, big alcohol flavours, little bitterness. Brown sugar.
M: Thick, weighty syrupy body, medium high fine bubbled carbonation.
O: My first in this style. A strong beer that’s well done and a sipper, but very drinkable. Complex good flavours, reminiscent of a weizen.
