A: Pours a dirty brown with a creamy white head. The head is pretty thin and leaves a very tiny bit of lace on the glass. Looks amazing.

S: Smells like bubble gum at first. There is also some banana and a tiny tiny bit of malt. This is one of the best smelling beers I have ever had.

T: This tastes like bubble gum too. The sweetness blows me away and is very nice. There is also a nice amount of fruit and when the beer lingers on my palate long enough, I start to get a nice amount of malt.

M: Has a very awesome crispness to it. it tingles on the tongue and the back of the throat, which makes it very enjoyable.

O: This is for sure one of the best beers I have ever had in my life. It's so amazing I just can't get enough of it. Well worth the price.

Bottle purchased at Maruhn in Darmstadt, Hessen (Germany)

Pours a dark maroon with a big head that fades very quickly. Syrupy and quite viscous as it pours, it's almost like a sludge.

The nose hits you with a wallop of bubblegum, but there's also banana pudding and cotton candy along for the ride.

This is one rich and intense beer; it's not for the faint of heart! There is lots of banana up front which mixes with bubblegum and cotton candy flavors. The flavors evolve into a sweet lime yoghurt, finishing with a huge malt flavor boarding on banana bread.

Remarkably, despite the 13% ABV and the syrupy pour, this is not an overly sweet beer. It is well balanced and tremendously crafted. It's an absolute winner; highly recommended!

this is coming from a Wooden Cask

beautiful chestnut brown with a head above very impressive for a beer weighing in @ 12%

first i smell a boozy, clove aroma. also, rich Munich malts. buttery

clove, raisin, date, breadcrust flavors. very yeasty and bready, though not so nutty. somewhat hot--i bet more time in the cask would produce a thing of beauty

very smooth

330 ML bottle

A-- Poured a dark ruby color and settled a dark, murky, I guess plumb color. Half finger of bright white head that went away as quick as I poured it. Just a white collar really. Visible alcohol legs to this.

S-- Dark fruits, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, and other spices. Slightly medicinal and alcohol says hello off the bat. Big time malt. Good nose. Like the fruity quality to this.

T-- Prickly and slightly syrupy. Dark fruits and spices. Like a Christmas pudding or cake. Very warming and very quick acting.

M-- Quite light and quite carbonated for the ABV. Smooth, slick and slightly medicinal. Booze is quite obvious but a very long lasting finish of spices and dark fruits. Quite a jammy beer.

O-- Biggest negative is how boozy it is but otherwise this is exceptional. A lot of balance in the body and a lot of flavors. Total winter beer and just a treat to have.

Appearance is a dark brown with maroon to orange highlights when held to light. The head is thick and dense, but no lacing left behind. Powerful scents remind me of black licorice and root beer - very unique smell. There is a lot going on in the taste - both good and bad. Banana, clove, dark fruit, molasses. It's very complex. But the finish and after taste reminds me of cherry cough syrup. This seemed to get stronger as I drank it, and finally, I couldn't take it anymore. The alcohol is very prominent, and its effects are quickly felt. The mouthfeel is syrupy and slick. I'm not sure how to grade this beer, as it is so complex, but I did not care for it personally, and will reflect this in the overall score.

A: maple syrup to brown. Slightly off white head.

S: German malty and slight bitey that's unpleasant. Maybe Belgian yeasty. Maybe tiniest smoke and spiciness.

T: malty with tons of residual sweetness. Lacking any bitterness.

M: thin overall

O: not good. Won't ever buy or recommend to anyone. Just not my style.
