Way darker than the usual weissebier, as this pours a hazy copper. Fluffy tan head lasts for a while and leaves behind some lace.
Big aroma of toasted banana bread - much maltier in aroma than other wheats. Hints of yeast and clove round out the nose.
With a theme going here, the flavor is hefe with a twist. Banana, clove, and yeast are all present, but mellow compared to others. Citrus zest and some tropical fruit add fruitness. Toasted malt adds a satisfying breadiness and solid platform for the other flavors. Very fresh tasting, well balanced with no one flavor overpowering. And damn tasty.
Medium bodied with incredible smoothness. Not as light as other hefes. Drinkability is great - not overly fruity where you would tire of the flavor. This is my new favorite hefe.

Poured cellar temperature into my weizen glass.
It pours with a one to two-finger, frothy white head and has a crystalline, copper-like honey-amber color. Like gold in the narrow part of the glass, and bronze in the flared -out part.
The aroma veritably bursts with banana, yeasty bread, vanilla, caramel, apples, dark red cherries, and lemon zest. A remarkably exquisite and intense aroma.
Flavors of both the sweet and tart fruits mingle with caramel in the taste, but above all else, it is supremely bready. As it should be.
The feel is quite carbonated, and, while not heavy, has a substantial weight and presence.
One hell of a hefeweizen. And I love that it has some dunkel leanings.
