Appearance: Nice "smoke" upon opening. Swirled bottle to get haze/yeast. 3" foamy beige head. Hazy light brown, with visible sluggish effervescence. Nice retention but no lacing.

Aroma: Aromatic; crackery pilsener malt, estery/banana. Not getting much clove, initially; more yeasty/clove as it warms to 60 degrees.

Taste: Clean, somewhat tart arrival slight tartness across mid-palate. Super clean finish with slight lingering bubblegum/banana.

Mouthfeel: Hefty, but very little slickness, clean, clean, clean.

Overall: Good, refreshing, but perhaps an old bottle (dated 14-079, March 20 and I drank it on August 8) is to blame for somewhat lackluster aroma & taste. I would definitely buy this again, but I can get better, fresher domestic craft beer for the price.

Poured from a 500ml bottle, bottled 14.150

Frothy white foam, dark cider-like color. Banana is strong, feel is long and full.

Had this out of a 50cl bottle:

An unusual weissbier. Depending on the light you're in, the colour varies from a copper brown to a dark brown, appearing as though you have a turd looming in your glass! Don't let that dissuade you though, this is a very tasty beer. Although the head disappears quite quickly, the carbonation is at a good level for the duration of the drink. The taste of the beer is excellent with 50% of it feeling like a regular but good golden wheat beer, like Hoegaarden for example, and the other 50% feeling like an IPA or something sturdier. It's a really nice beer to try out but I can't see myself drinking more than one at a time without it weighing too heavily on my stomach. Good for a one off, though!

Pours a translucent copper color with a moderate off-white head that sputters away nearly before the pour is finished--a far cry from what I expect from a hefeweizen. Aroma smells of clove, banana, and apple cider.

The flavor is mild and sweet, with caramel, clove, apple, and perhaps a hint of banana. There's also a yeasty bite that tramples a bit on the other elements, especially toward the back end. The mouthfeel is thin and watery up front and prickly in the finish.

This beer defied all of my expectations, and not in a good way. It looks and tastes more like a blend between a Viennese lager and a hefeweizen than a hefeweizen proper. The flavors are incohesive on the mouthfeel lacks the luxurious texture that I appreciate in the style. If this had been branded as something other than a hefe, I probably wouldn't be so harsh, but for a style with such integrity, this was confusing to say the least.

Served from a 16.9 oz bottle.
Pours with a massive off white/light beige head that settles down to a thin layer of foam.
Beer is much darker in appearance than other examples of this style; It's medium deep amber and exceptionally clear.
Yeast comes through strongest in the nose, with some grainy wheat notes as well.
There is also a noticeable smokiness.
Yeast and the same smokiness also come through in the taste.
Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side but there is a pleasing level of carbonation.
To sum up, this is far from my favorite example of the style, but it is not without merit.
I wouldn't use it to introduce people to the style.
