I greatly enjoy Hefeweissen, and normally I'm partial to Weheinstephaner, but I thought I would give this a try.
No freshness date on the bottle (at least none that I could interpret) but it started foaming the minute I popped the cap. Huge foam on this one that took awhile to settle down, and even when it did, there was still a thin head over the top. A very interesting honey orange color at first (clear - I hadn't poured all the bottle into the glass) and then very cloudy as I swirled the bottle to get all the yeast in (a lesson a German taught me - don't know if it's right though). The smell to me was classic hefeweissen - which I always think is good.
The taste is surprisingly mild, but not in a bad way. If you drink it before most of the yeast is in, you get a wheat beer with hints of orange. Once all the yeast is in though, you get the wheat beer flavors with nice flavors at the end, not overpowering bananas and cloves, but just a nice....well maybe honey and coriander? Dunno - I don't quite have the palate to tell these things. Very carbonated at first sips and then it gets very smooth as you let it warm up and drink it. Overall very nice and it went real well with a pulled pork BBQ dinner at home.

Pours with a huge, fluffy white head with very nice lacing and great retention. It's a beautiful orange-gold colour, nice and hazy. The smell is quite interesting, consisting mostly of hops which is obviously unusual for this type of beer. Lots of hop flavour too, with a very refreshing feel. This is top quality hefeweizen.

Picked this up at a great beer shop in Darmstadt, Germany, Maruhn Welt der Getränke. Hazy yellow-amber pour with a two finger foamy white head with decent retention and lacing. The nose is earthy and spicy with hints of lemon, yeast, banana, clove, grass, wheat, and white pepper. The taste is herbal and complex with hints of lemon, clove, white pepper, corriander, subtle tangerine, banana, pear, apple, and grass. The mouthfeel is crisp and light bodied with fizzy carbonation and a nice tangy, dry finish. Overall, this is another world class offering from Schneider Weisse, especially considering I'm not a Weizen guy. It's really refreshing and hugely drinkable.

Pours a pale, slightly hazy amber. Nice looking head, creamy white, lingers a while. Smells much maltier than a typical heffe of the sort I'm familiar with, with some notes of toast and honey. Taste is malty, more like an October-fest marzen than a heffe, but not unlikable. Subtle bubble gum in the background. Not my favorite of the style, but good.

16.9 oz bottle was poured into a hefeweizen glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a two finger head that reduced to a small puffy layer. It is a hazy pale orange with some vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Bananas, clove, wheat, and vanilla.

Taste: Tastes almost like banana bread. Chewy wheat, vanilla, and clove.

Mouthfeel: Refreshing, chewy, medium bodied, and medium carbonation.

Overall: Pretty awesome hefeweizen. This brewery puts awesome beers.
