16.9 ounce bottle... Freshness date clearly marked on the back. I was thrilled to find this one at one of my local Bier stores.

Great appearance. Hazy ad golden with a thick, pillowy head after an aggresive pour. Aromas rich in hops, bubblegum like essences, banana and cloves. The unusual choice of hops comes through on the palate as well, but it is a pleasant thing, to say the least. Smooth on the fantastic flavors citrus flavors, banana and clove balance well with the hop goodness. The wheat plays along well with the other components, to be sure. Unique in nature and very impressive, to say the least. I was a bit concerned, being an organic brew, but Schneider Weisse comes through again. Fantastic. The perfect Bier for celebrating another Bayern Muenchen victory!

Poured from a bottle into an Erdinger Weissbrau weissbier glass. The pour is fairly clear with just a little haze. It sports 2-3 fingers of dense white foam. Retention isn't as good as I'd like. The nose has lots of sweet cereal-like notes, bananas, cloves, and baking spices.

Light body and good flavor up front. I get those crisp, slightly tart notes from the wheat, a little lemon, some bananas, bread, and clove. Sadly, rather than build to a crescendo, the flavor fades noticeably near the back of the throat. It's surprising because there's ample carbonation to open up the palate. The finish is little more than a briefly lingering banana-like flavor. A very nice flavor, but a rather disappointing finish for such a fine brewer. Still, it's refreshing and sessionable and I do enjoy drinking it.

I may try this beer again. Perhaps the bottle I purchased was a bit old and the hops, though certainly not center-stage in this style, were too faded to provide the spicy, peppery kick I felt was missing on the back end of this one. An outstanding beer, but judging from this one tasting it's not quite up to the level of the 2 or 3 best offerings of this style.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe (£2.79):
Cloudy yellow to amber with a 2-fingers tall, white and foamy head that has great retention, leaving some nice lacing too.

Citrus lemon notes upfront with plenty of wheat, yeast and coriander as always with this style of beer. There is some lively orange zest and some banana too although this quite faint and definitely not as strong as with some other German hefeweizens and there is some spice right at the end.

Wheat and light coriander to begin along with some banana that comes across stronger than it did with the aroma. There is some light spice coming through along with some citrus flavours and a slightly floral taste and the tiniest hint of alcohol right at the end as well.

Medium bodied and soft with a very smooth feel with good carbonation and a touch of fizz. Touches of creaminess and very easy to drink.

An excellent beer as I expected, one of the best I've tried from the brewery although they have all been good for the most part. A little stronger than usual for the style but a nice change up and one I'd have again.

500 ml bottle into weizen glass, bottled on 2/21/2013. Pours hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big orange zest, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, wheat, bread, light bubblegum, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt, hop, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of big orange zest, banana, pear, apple, clove, pepper, wheat, bread, light bubblegum, floral, grass, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of orange, banana, pear, apple, clove, pepper, wheat, bread, light bubblegum, herbal, floral, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance, complexity, and robustness of malt, hop, and yeast ester flavors; with a great balance of malt/spiciness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, smooth, and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent hefeweizen. All around great balance, complexity, and robustness of malt, hop, and yeast flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

A: Perfect appearance for a German Hefe. A golden orange color with a good yeasty haze to it. About two fingers of very creamy yet slightly soapy looking head. Carbonation is easily visible in bubbles streaming up and down the sides of the glass.

S: I'm not picking up all that much on the smell honestly. There is a bit of clove and some sweetness but nothing is represented in extreme clarity. It's good though.

T: Clove and a slight hint of banana and maybe just a trace of bubblegum are evident. It's not over done or medicinal like some Hefe's and its just nicely done. Bready and sweet malts are present as well perhaps a bit more then I've come to expect from a Hefe perhaps due to the slightly higher then normal ABV. This is a very good thing though and IMO makes it able to stand up to some foods that a Hefe normally would feel right with.

M: Crisp clean and refreshing. Its very soft on the mouth though. It's not overly bubbly to the extent that it feels prickly or sharp but just enough so to balance out the medium sized body and give a sense of cleansing to the drinker.

O: A great beer overall. I could see multiple food pairings with this beer. Perhaps too expensive for my liking but I could easily see my self buying large quantities at a lower price.

Picture perfect bier, really great organic lighter shade of a weisse beer from Schneider, Cloudy orange golden, billowing off white head forms thick chunky lacing down the sides of my glass. First whiff gives you loads of banana, clove, and spicy character from the yeast strain. Perfectly balanced this Wiesen Edel-Weisse is a work of art, perfect interplay of wheat, citrus character, grassy hay, clove, and bananas and bubblegum nothing overpowers finishes somewhat clean and super refreshing. Hands down the best organic beer I've ever had. A bit of dry chalky character is added to the bier once you pour the rest of the yeast sediment into the glass, this proves the theory that beer is food.
