Pours a cloudy apricot with a wispy head thsat gives up the ghost 60 seconds after the pour.

Wheat malt in the nose, some banana-citrus esters playing about as well.

Taste is slightly sharp, wheaty and bland. Little to no aftertaste and a thin mouthfeel.

Not bad, but not particularly complex either.

Pours just a slightly hazy straw color with a white one finger head that is gone quite quickly, love the aromas clovey spice and banana with a light iron note underneath it all. This is a real hefty weisse at 6.2% like the same non organic version I have yet to try very sturdy full mouthfeel.Very wheaty flavor profile along with a clove aspect just enough citrus/lemon underneath to keep it from being one dimensional.A damn fine weisse and big to boot.

Pours a hazed gold with a thick, creamy head that settles to a nice thick lace. The chunky yeast may be off putting to some, but I suggest that you give it a good hard pour regardless. Mouth watering aroma of fresh apple cider, tangy and spicy. The combination of American hops with German wheat and yeasts make this one of the most unique beers I have tried. Fruit and spice character is all over the map, with apple, banana, pear, lemon, clove, pepper, and more substantial hop bitterness than your average hefe. Dangerously drinkable, this is a godlike treat for weizen lovers. My all-time favorite.

Pours a cloudy yellow, huge thick foamy white head, leaves a clingy lace in the glass, aroma of wheat, bananas and spices. Flavors of wheat, banana-clove yeasty flavor. Nice body clean and crisp, carbonated mouthfeel, very refreshing another one of my favorites.

Deep hazy straw gold color with a thick fluffy head. Excellent carbonation in the form of champagne bubbles rises to the top of the glass. The aroma has layers of banana, clove, a little orange, and a bit of bubblegum on the finish. The flavor is sweet up front and lacks the banana and orange I found in the nose. Hmmmm. Tastes more like a traditional American wheat than a Hefe. Crisp, refreshing mouth feel, decent drinakbility.

Slightly cloudy, golden with an initial foamy white head that quickly dies to a thin cover.

Aroma is lemony/citrusy, with an organic yeasty smell that is very reminiscent of Schneider Weisse (not surprising, since they both are made by the same brewery). Which in my opinion is a good thing, don't get me wrong! But now, I'm not sure I can review this in any way except as a comparison to that other excellent beer.

Flavor is nice and wheaty with a solid lemon citrus overtone. Very nice and refreshing mouthfeel, with good drinkability. I could easily have several of these sitting on the patio, or in a biergarten, or at the pool.

To me, this is Schneider Weisse light. It's really good, and light and refreshing, not nearly as heavy, and actually more drinkable for that reason. But the down side is that the flavors are not as rich and full. Good in its own right, but not quite up to its big brother.

Pours a hazy gold with a thin ivory head. No lace. Smells of banana and lemon. Light hints of clove.

Taste is spicy and lemony. Hints of banana. Sweet wheat malt. Mouth is crisp but a bit thin. Certainly drinkable but nothing special as far as hefes go.

Pours a cloudy chicken broth color with a slight tan hue. Minimal head that dissipated to nothing and lots of carb action. Bottom of bottle has evidence of yeast.

Slight cookie, banana, and bready caramel malt aroma with a spicy hop smell.

Moderately sweet and lightly acidic grainy caramel malt taste with a slight spicy tangerine hop flavor.

Light body, slightly watery and syrupy texture, soft and almost flat carbonation, and a smooth finish.

Drinkability is good, the best organic offering for this style that I've tried.

Updated 02/08/09 after reading the previous review I think that was a different beer. This one almost blew the top off.

500ml Bottle
Pours a very hazy straw/orange color with a nice slightly off-white head.
Smell is heavy wheat, cloves, banana, sorta musty actually, and maybe a little floral (actually smells kinda like carnations).
Taste is very nice. Slight wheat tartness followed by slight clove, pretty heavy banana, and just a hint of floralness to the beer. Very smooth with just a hint of spicy german hops.
Mouthfeel is as to be expected, very easy drinking. Perhaps a bit thin at the end, but overall nice.
Overall, a great wheat beer. Not 100% sure what the flavor difference between the organic Edel-Weisse and the non-organic is, but I don't think I'd have a hard time drinking another of either.

Pours a light and shimmering gold in color with a bit of sediment if disturbed with a fluffy white head that left a thin layer throughout the glass. Nose is really fruity, also quite spicy. Taste is very nice, smooth and crisp, lots of fruit particularly banana. Heavy, heavy clove presence, more than most hefes, quite nice. Highly drinkable beverage, I could drink a lot of this.

Slàinte!

Hazy ddep gold hue in the pour, medium white head and sediment.Aroma is definitely yeast dominated some fruitiness, some slight citris, some slight spice. Flavor is very sweet, fruity and very light except for some syrupiness on the tongue. Finish is sweet, not cloying, suprisingly crisp. Nice drinkable beer.

This was a hazy yellow beer with a low, fizzy head... a little too fast and fissy for my tastes, almost like soda. When you can hear the head subsiding, it's too much.

Aroma was of wheat malt, clove, and some yeastiness. All right.

Flavor was of wheat malt, slightly sweet, with black pepper and coriander spiciness. That was an interesting touch, and unexpected.

Mouthfeel was average for a wheat beer, but a little too carbonated for my likes.

Drinkability is a little better than average for a wheat beer. I wouldn't go too far out of my way to seek this out again, though, as wheats are not my favorite style.

Poured a cloudy gold brew with a frothy white head that sticks around for a long time. Aroma is more mild than other hefes with a touch of banana and clove and a dry malt note. The taste is very enjoyable to me as I think that other hefe rely on the yeast flavors a bit too much. This beer begins with a nice hop flavor but is not even close to bitter and then it segues into a creamy blend of dry wheat malt flavor and a touch of clove. the finish is very clean but a touch of the malt flavor do linger. The mouthfeel is a bit lacking as I like my hefes with a touch more CO2 than this one but it is not bad. Very nice beer that can make a great session beer or just a great beer to have on a hot summer day when everyone else is drinking lager.

Sampled at the Southside Beer Expo, United Liquors, Frankfort, IL. A good German Weizen, not quite as full of hefeweizen qualities as others, but well made. Subtle weizen character allows a surprising hop profile to show through. That's right, a hoppy tradition German weizen.

Pours a beautiful golden color, slightly hazy with a two-finger head. Smells of bananas, wheat and raisins. Tastes like bananas too...a discernible sourness towards the end that is not unpleasant at all. Flavor is very distinctive, even among other hefes. Finish is dry and slightly malty sweet. It is easy to taste the wheat malt in this one. Mouthfeel is, not surprisingly, effervescent and medium bodied. Drinkability is pretty high (it is a hefe-weizen,after all). Another quality wheat beer from the Schneider folks.

500ml bottle served into a large Kapuziner weizen glass. Pours a dirty lemon colored body with the yeast swirled in, with a two centimeter white head that quickly falls into some sheet lacing. Body exhibits active carbonation and some suspended yeast particles. Aroma has earthy yeast, banana and lemon, and a prominent spicy component of white pepper, cloves, and coriander. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with some malty thickness. Medium carbonation. Taste begins with bready yeast, lemony citrus, and spicy pepper and clove. Banana emerges midway through as does some noble floral hoppiness. Finishes somewhat dry with a mild noble hop bitterness that is excellent for style. I really enjoyed the taste of this one. Earthy character lends an "organic" feeling. Very well constructed and highly drinkable.

A very nice beer in the classic weisse style. The lovely flaxen, unfiltered appearance is enticing from the moment it is poured. The smell is a sweet mix of banana, clove and wheat. The flavor is very nice indeed, again with a nice balance of wheat, clove, and banana. An excellent choice for fans of the weisse beer.

Pours a hazy cider yellow with a small off-white head. This is no the most impressive beer to feast your eyes on.

This has the delightful aroma of a basket of apples. It is joined by a touch of apples and spice. This is a veritable cornocupia of aroma that greets the nose.

The flavor of this beer is delightfully fruity and spicy and very tasty. This is like a delicious apple pie with a dollop of banana and cloves.

This is an easy to drink beer that has a touch of substance to it. A nice summer beer that has enough complexity to drink to anytime of the year.

This is a good beer that is vaguely reminiscent of Julius Ector. I would like to try this again.

02/22/05- Purchased at Mollie Stones in Burlingame, CA

Presentation- 16.9oz green labeled bottle with a coded fressness date on the back label. Poured into my Ayinger weizen glass.

Appearance-- Pours a nice effervesant yellow color with a foamy and spritzy white head and very light lacing.

Smell- Spicy sweet clove action like a nice hefe should smell like.

Taste- Mosty cloves and various spices, nutmeg? Bananas come through in the finish. Very nice taste indeed.

Mouthfeel- a tad creamy and medium to high carbonation here.

Drinkability- Nice quaffing hefe. I can still taste the after-effects about 30 minutes later. Good refreshing brew.

Cloudy yellow body, carbonation rises like hundreds of small helium balloons. Head is four fingers of white foam, level at the top.

Aroma features a very nice banana, with a bit of clove and bubblegum, and some spicey notes.

Taste is the usual suspects of wheat, banana, cloves, but there is also a distinct spiceyness to the beer, a bit of pepper, which lingers into the aftertaste. A little deeper and darker flavor than the typical hefe.

Mouthfeel is fine, light and refreshing. Good drinkability.

Not really interested in the organic aspects, but a nice hefe to try.

This guy is a brownish-orange color, small bubbly white head on the top, lots of little bubbles rising to the top. Great classic hefe scent, yeast, cloves, naners. Grainy malt front, bananas, cloves, hint of spiced alcohol. Pretty full mouth. A nice hefe with some zip to it, makes me wish the mower wasnt put away right now.

Pours a cloudy tan colored beer, looks less tan and more golden as some of the yeast falls to the bottom of the glass.

Smell is sweet and grainy with lots of Band Aid and clove scents. Could be more complex.

Taste is mild sweetness and strong cloves and medicine flavor. Different flavors in the aftertaste lots of sweet malt and bubble gum flavors linger on the tongue. Tasty but might be a bit strange to someone who isn't a Hefe Weizen fan and doesn’t seek out the exotic wheat beers.

Mouthfeel is good and creamy.

Tasty and off beat Hefe Weizen probably would not be appreciated by a non Hefe Fan. For a wheat beer fan this is a 4.

The beer pours a cloudy golden color with lots of yeast floaties. It has a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is good. It has a rich wheat malt scent that has a mild banana and clove aroma. The taste is good also. It has a smooth wheat malt flavor with a boat load of banana and clove taste. It goes down easy with a fruity yeast and earthy finish. The mouthfeel is good. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is an excellent Weisse beer. It has awesome flavor and aroma; a good drinker.
