A cloudy light amber tone topped by a thick dense crisp white head. A very malty smell. Just what you should expect from a German Hefe. The taste doesn't let down either. A good strong malt presence followed by a crisp clean taste of water. Feels a little off, maybe too bubbly. Over all a very good Hefeweizen.

Poures a nice blond color with a light orange tint with a big blooming head leaving nice lave down my weisse glass, clovey, spicey aroma with a some light banana but the spice is dominant.Cloves hit the palate right away with some but some citrus (lemon mainly) comes thru to make this a refresher and brings nice balance. What can I say a great Bavarian Weisse on par with the best in the world in my opinion.

Appearance – The bottle foamed over when I opened it, so I gave this one a very careful pour. The head is white and very tight and the body a darker orange than I expected.

Smell – Primo hefe weizen aroma. The yeast is huge and laden with light fruits. This one smells heavenly.

Taste – This is very good. The fruits are heavier that the norm, especially the banana, and the yeast is right on target. It’s kind of in between a hefe and a Belgian pale ale.

Mouthfeel – The one noticeable drawback to this offering is the lack of carbonation. This bottle was almost downright flat, which is off-style for sure. Otherwise it felt very good in the mouth. Fuller than most hefe weizens that I’ve had, this one was actually medium-bodied and kind of chewy.

Drinkability – I wanted an afternoon snack and opted for this over a bag of chips. I’m much the better man for it. This was a neat experience. It is a very interesting take on the style.

Crisp and clean as Weizenbocks go. Brilliant orange-gold appearance, moderately cloudy. Green apple peal aromatic front, banana middle, clove finish. Aroma is truly wonderful. Tastes fruity of pear, mandarin oranges, and wheat. A bit darker than most. Heavy carbonation, nice streaming. Very refreshing and drinkable.

Presentation: 500 ml (16.9 oz) slender brown bottle with info about the beer on the back label, no freshness date. Bottle fermented.

Appearance: Cloudy amber brown with a thick pillowy off white head that stays for the duration from a semi vigorous pour and then swirling the yeast in at the end.

Smell: Fruity mix of pear, peach and mandarin orange in the nose, soft spicy clove and alcoholic esters noticeable also.

Taste: Bubbly champagne like carbonation though a medium body and a full malty palate flexes for a smooth and crisp mouth feel. Big spicy splash of clove as soon as the effervescent carbonation hits. Phantom like hop bitterness that is barely there is buried among the wound up flavours. Fruity all over going from pear to mandarin orange to peach, faint medicinal flavour from the phenols also kicks in. Obvious alcoholic esters present with a sweet spiciness. Healthy twang from the wheat malt and ample sweetness to, a mild sweet bread flavour and a semi dry grainy finish.

Notes: Quite a thrilling brew, noted as the “Original German Hefe-Weizen”. Perhaps that is why it is darker in colour than most hefeweizens. Hearty and packed with character and able to cleanse the palate of most any robust cuisine. My choice was obvious, knockwurst and sauerkraut with spicy mustard.

On tap at Anam Cara served in the matching Schneider Weisse glass (we'd expect nothing less from Anam Cara).

This beer was breathtaking. A real treat.

Poured a fair gold with with a rich, creamy head. Smells of cloves, banana and yeast with a mellow banana flavor. This beer was a pleasure to drink from the first sip to the last and I look forward to my next visit to Anam Cara for another one of these treats.

Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle. This bottle was labeled Tap 1 Mein Blondes.

The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. The aroma is wheat, coriander and cloves. I don't get much banana in the aroma. The flavor is heavy on the wheat and cloves, but I also don't get much banana. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A decent wheat beer, but not up to the level of the other great wheat beers from this brewery.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2012, so it's slightly out of date. ABV is stated as 5.2%. Picked up cheap from my local beer specialist. I'm a little confused about the difference between this and the original (Tap 7), but here goes.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A deeply translucent golden-amber with a ton of yeast. Yields a large fluffy head of white foam with decent retention; this eventually settles and dissipates. A rich, sweet aroma of bananas, cloves, marzipan, wheat malt and dry yeast esters. A subtle background fruitiness that is hard to place.

Tastes of wheat, with a bright, fruity character and a dry finish. Notes of bananas, cloves and earthy yeast. A hint of stewed hops and a faint staleness in the background. Mouthfeel is smooth and full-bodied, but dry and lacking in carbonation. Coats the palate. Rather astringent. Aftertaste of bananas, wheat malt and yeast esters.

Not bad, though perhaps not the best weissbier I've tried. All the expected flavours and aromas are abundantly present, but the dry background staleness detracts from the taste. The flat body doesn't help either - I was expecting a live beer to be more effervescent. Still, a solid brew with a nice character. Worth sampling.

A very tasty wheat beer, lots of banana, and hints of citrus, a very tasty way to quench your thirst. Can have some heavy sediment sometimes, but its great stuff.

Ours to a very full white head with fine bubbles. Headforms a characteristic lace to the bottom of the glass. Aroma is somewlat more pronounced than the average for the style with a fruity and spicey note. The brew itself is quite pale and cloudy to the eye. The aroma carries on through the taste with fruit and spice coming through, maybe a bit of clove. Body is a little thin but the finish is very refreshing.

Poured a cloudy copper colour with a nice thick head which diminished fairly quickly (mine wasn't a very vigoruous pour). The smell is of cloves with some other hints of fruit and wheat malt. Very bold clove and wheat malt taste with some subtle hints of banana - a nice lingering finish. Carbonation was not overly aggressive and made for a smooth drinking beer. This was a very nice hefe and I will be buying more of these.

Went well with pepper-crusted lamb steak...

Served cold in a pint glass. It pours a deep golden yellow color with just a slight bit of haze. The soft white head settles quickly leaving a thin layer on top.

Aroma is evident even from a distance which is impressive considering it's a wheat beer and because I generally have a weak sense of smell. It has a very nice characteristic German wheat beer aroma of sweet banana and mild spice.

Flavor is very pleasant with banana, pink bubble gum, and green pear. The spice from the hops is very mild but it's just enough to balance out the sweetness from the malted wheat.

Mouthfeel is light in body with ample carbonation. Without the bubbles it would be quite thin. Drinkability is great, as with most good wheat beers.

Overall it's a very pleasant beer but it falls short of the greatness that is Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier.

Cloudy, rusty golden in color, with a sizeable and fine head of white bubbles. No lace.

Smell is citrus, bubblegum, and clove. Typical, and inviting.

Taste is sweet at first. I get wheat, a hint of orange peel, and some clove for spice. Couldn't ask for more, or better.

You'd expect a Bavarian hefe to be as good as it gets, and this one doesn't disappoint. Right there next to Weihenstephaner, in my book.

500 ml bottle, lately labeled as "Meine blonde Weisse". Poured into a "Schneider Weisse" weizen glass.

Color is cloudy orange, head is large and foamy but doesn't leave much lace.
Fruity aroma. I can smell yeast, citrus, orange and wheat.
Medium body and well carbonated.

I have tried all beers from Schneider and although I like Tap 4,5,6 and 7 more than this one, it still is a very good Hefeweizen.

A: Cloudy, but thinner in color than I would expect for a Hefeweizen. But the rear label also classifies it as a Weizenvollbier. Orange yet slightly brown in color. Beautiful inch and a half head. I forgot to mix this one well and I see faintly what looks like slightly darker than the beer color, food coloring drop patterns floating in the middle.

S: Sweet cooked banana yeast. The most banana-y hefeweizen I've smelled.

T: Besides banana, there's an unplaceable mild fruity sweetness. A tinge tart. Alcohol is present in the aftertaste, which is surprising for the ABV.

M: Medium body, with very mild micro carbonation. Smooth.

D: Very good beer. I only wish it was a hair sweeter.
