pours out a very dark, somewhat clouded, copperish color with a very generous pillowy head that sticks. the addition of the ample yeast sediment turns it a murky swamp brown. but fear not, while without the yeast it is a tasty and refreshing wheat beer...the adding of the yeast multiplies the flavors and complexities in the nose and tongue. it smooths out the full mouthfeel, and provides a unique spicy aspect above and beyond the token clove and banana and other faint fruit flavors. smoke, wood, tobacco, and nutmeg are ones that come to mind. i could sit here all day and night admiring this brew. very nice!

At the time of this review, this is #5 on the "Top Beer - Hefeweizen" list on beeradvocate.com. Served in a weizen glass. Beer is yellow and hazy, high carbonation, nice head, a little small, retention low. Some lacing.

Aroma is banana, complete banana.

Beer is wet and light to medium in body. Moderate carbonation on the palate, sweet, a little grainy, nice fruits and a great palate with a nice finish, This is almost exactly like Weihenstephaner, meaning this was very good and I'd have it again.

Poured into a Weihenstephaner weizen glass

Schneider's Meine Blonde weiss is an exceptional hefeweizen in the brewery's portfolio that should be more available in the US, given the brewery's existing representation; it is sad that availability is non-existent outside of Europe given the quality of this beer. Comparable to a lighter version of the brewery's "Unser Original" or a slightly darker, deeper Weihenstephaner, this is a beer dense with flavor, yet still somewhat light and accessible, focusing on banana, yeast, and bread qualities.

Pours a very tall head, composed of small to medium-sized bubbles, that has fairly long retention of several minutes, eventually descending to a 0.5cm cap atop the beer. As the head is exposed to air, it "dries," creating a meringue-like effect at the top of the beer. Leaves fairly excellent lacing along sides of glass, which is renewed with each swirl. Body is a bright copper-orange color, with pale yellow highlights; holding beer up to light does not reduce coloration much at all. Body is opaque from suspended yeast, with very visible carbonation.

Aroma is rather bright and forthcoming, of banana esters, yeast, and meyer lemon citrus tartness/sweetness being dominant. Secondary scents of apple cider and bubblegum.

Taste is delicious, with notable wheat malt, subdued meyer lemon citrus tartness, banana esters, and yeast on the front of the tongue. Mid-palate picks up pleasant sweetness from malt, apple cider flavors, banana bread flavor, and continued yeast presence. Aftertaste of residual wheat malt sweetness, banana bread, and a bit of tangy flavor from malt and yeast choices.

Beer is medium bodied, with ample carbonation to propel this pleasantly along the palate. Finish is dry, inevitably leading to the desire for more.

Poured a cloudy copper colour with a nice thick head which diminished fairly quickly (mine wasn't a very vigoruous pour). The smell is of cloves with some other hints of fruit and wheat malt. Very bold clove and wheat malt taste with some subtle hints of banana - a nice lingering finish. Carbonation was not overly aggressive and made for a smooth drinking beer. This was a very nice hefe and I will be buying more of these.

Went well with pepper-crusted lamb steak...

Poured from a .5L bottle to a hefe glass the liquid is a nice medium orange with good carbonation. The head is tall and white and leaves good lace.

The smell is very good, banana cloves and even a bit toasty.

The taste is great a really nice brew, lots of banana and cloves with a hint of a roasty flavor you normally get from the dunkles.

The mouthfeel is very good a nit thicker then medium and good carbonation.

The drinkability is good, I would get more of these for sure.

Prosit, MK

Pours a dark gold color which is hazy. The head is pretty thick white and soapy. The brews immediately smells of banana and spice. Other fruit tones exist, but I cannot place the smell. The taste of the beer is fruity, malty and refreshing. It seems more carbonated than other brews and I suspect this is due to the style. Good mouthfeel and very drinkable.

Pours pale brown, almost as if it is a light version of a Dunkelweizen. Near white head forms well and retains well. Nose is pleasantly assertive with a clean fresh whitebready component, light banana clove. Plenty of wheat malt on the palate give it a smooth sweetness over medium body, with the banana clove in the background. Again fresh bready components are noted. Finish is medium long and bready. Very drinkable.

Appearance: Not your average weisse. Unusual dijon mustard color with a fizzy, rather than creamy, head. Surprisingly poor retention. Somewhat cloudy and very powerful carbonation. Interesting, but not the best-looking beer you'll ever see.

Smell: Very spicy, with strong notes of clove, orange, and banana. Slightly yeasty and biscuity as well.

Taste: Bold and well-balanced. Strong, almost numbing clove, saturated banana sweetness, but finishes surprisingly dry and metallic, with a citrusy wheat bite. The mouthfeel is very odd for a weisse, a bit thick, but sharply, aggressively carbonated; almost feels like a dubbel. Unconventional, but I liked it.

Drinkability: Most weisse beers are infinitely drinkable, and the unique look and feel of this one coupled with the big flavor puts it way into the win column for me.

A real standout in a rather bland genre, highly recommended.

Appearance- Dark brown, murky and cloudy, nice thin white head, no bubbles to be seen, looks like alot going on

Smell- Wheat, yeast, lots of doughy ness, fresh odors of lemon and citrus

Taste- Lemon citrus up front and lots of fresh delicous wheat flavors, tangy fruits hit the tongue, balanced with some definite malt sweetness and slight touch of hop bitterness, a very refreshing sweet yet slight tangy blend

Mouth- light and quafible, carbonation can be felt as if goes down,

Drinkability- incredibly great wheat and was not disappointed again by schneider, so refreshingly crisp and pure, freshness resinates through the beer, very complex yet simply put refreshing as possible, cant wait to enjoy one on a very hot summer day

I was thinking about hefe weizens earlier today. Why don't I drink more weissbiers? They taste good and I really like my hefe glasses, so I picked up a bottle of Schneider Weisse Weizenhell on my way home.

This brew looks a bit different than other hefe's, pouring a cloudy amber color with a good size head. It has nice aroma of bananas, vanilla, clove and yeast. Carbonation and a spicy bite highlight the mouthfeel. The taste? You get a healthy mix of everything above, most notably bananas, clove and yeasts, in this. I think I'll be needing to pick up a few more bottles of this stuff- hell, some weizenbocks, dunkels and kristals are also in order.

Served cold in a pint glass. It pours a deep golden yellow color with just a slight bit of haze. The soft white head settles quickly leaving a thin layer on top.

Aroma is evident even from a distance which is impressive considering it's a wheat beer and because I generally have a weak sense of smell. It has a very nice characteristic German wheat beer aroma of sweet banana and mild spice.

Flavor is very pleasant with banana, pink bubble gum, and green pear. The spice from the hops is very mild but it's just enough to balance out the sweetness from the malted wheat.

Mouthfeel is light in body with ample carbonation. Without the bubbles it would be quite thin. Drinkability is great, as with most good wheat beers.

Overall it's a very pleasant beer but it falls short of the greatness that is Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier.

Pours darker than many hefes, with an amber hue and a nice white head that settles to a ring. Classic Hefeweizen aromas of banana and clove, nicely in balance, and a light graininess a well as a touch of pear. Taste is similar. Spicy clove and a touch of banana, somewhat creamy but leans more toward the spicy side. Smooth and spicy in the mouth, a classic and a pleasure to drink.

This Original Weisse poured a lot darker than I expected: a brownish-tan color, cloudy with the yeasties poured in. A creamy, fine head was produced, though it diminished quickly, with a small amount of lace. Very pleasant nose - lots of banana and clove, with yeasty-spiciness thrown in also. Body was not disappointing, and there was a touch of carbonation (typical of the style imo) on the tongue. Nice combo of flavors hit the palate: the aforementioned banana/clove/spiciness, as well as some malt, and a nice fruity, tart lasting finish. A real thirst-quencher on a warm, summer-like day! Zum Wohl!!
