Had this at the brewhouse in Munich. Served in a hefe glass cool.

A-bright orange (almost sex-on-the-beach body) and a thick white head.

S-strong clove, spice and bubblegum aroma

T-bubblegum is pronounced, wet, cereal and lemon flavors

M-light

D-great on tap at the brewhouse in Munich (despite some rude service) and complex without being to headspinning. I would drink this beer again. (392 characters)

A nice, classic bottle fermented and aged Hefeweizen. Although i drank it early (I believe it was dated 10/30/06 and I drank it around 1/27/06), I was still impressed. I had many American Hefeweizens/wheat but wanted to get my hands on a real good German Hefeweizen to see what it was all about. Schneider-Weisse did not let me down. It poured a nice, dark gold/amber color with a quarter inch, off-white head with decent retention. It reduced a little bit, but a little swirl to release some of the aromas brought it back. The smell was magnificent with the fruits and banana esters rising to the occassion. At first, a slightly bland, seltzer taste, but I believe that was just me because after that first "coating" of my tongue, the greatness of what was the German Hefeweizen let me know that this beer was uber. A pretty thick mouthfeel; not too overwhelming but you knew you were drinking beer. Overall, a very refreshing beer and I believe that the fact that it was not that aged played a factor into the overall beerness (unfortunately, I saw the date after I opened it). Still, a great beer and highly reccommended. (1,124 characters)

pours out a very dark, somewhat clouded, copperish color with a very generous pillowy head that sticks. the addition of the ample yeast sediment turns it a murky swamp brown. but fear not, while without the yeast it is a tasty and refreshing wheat beer...the adding of the yeast multiplies the flavors and complexities in the nose and tongue. it smooths out the full mouthfeel, and provides a unique spicy aspect above and beyond the token clove and banana and other faint fruit flavors. smoke, wood, tobacco, and nutmeg are ones that come to mind. i could sit here all day and night admiring this brew. very nice! (614 characters)

This beer poured a very nice looking amber color with a big thick white head that dissipated within a few moments. The lacing on this beer is worth mentioning also as it was damn near perfect. Smell was of light fruits like pear, apple and peach. There was also a sort of medicinal aspiriny aroma that gave it a bit of a musty smell. Taste was pretty close to the smell, starting off with the aspirin taste and then finishing up with the fruit. Mouthfeel was really good...usually when I taste a Hefeweizen there isnt much hop presence, but it was certainly in this beer. Low alcohol content makes this a beer that one could drink for a while, which is nice for when your drinking for flavor rather then the effects. This is a really nice offering and one that I am delighted to have found over here in Australia. I'll definetly be picking some more up in the future whether it be here or back in Boston. (904 characters)

The head is initially huge, very frothy, white in color, mostly lasting. Body is hazy copper/yellow, Light to medium body, watery texture, and decent carbonation. Nice aroma with notes of banana and cloves. The same can be found in the taste; the finish is moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Overall a enjoyable brew. (322 characters)

A: pores a wonderful dark color for this style, as it should as the original or standard for this style, everything else is to pale. Nice haze also.
S: Normal notes for the style but no Banana!
T: Wonderful, again no Banana! Is what I don't like about this style and this have none of it? This beer has big bold Wheat yeast and fruity flavors.
M: Vary crisp but not at all to dry.
D: This could go down easy especially if it by the L. and it was in a beer garden on a hot day. (476 characters)

Draft beer at Weisses Brauhaus. Good looking blonde, slight cloudiness. Very good hop aroma and the taste is a complex spice and a touch of bitterness. Very good. (162 characters)

This is awesome. Perfectly balanced banana/clove/malt. Beaut thick, persistent head. This is the ideal hefe. Everything is in balance and it is not just typical of style but the benchmark. Unfortunately its bloody expensive and hard to get. That's all I've got to say. (268 characters)

This hefeweizen passed the ultimate quality test - when you suddenly realize your glass is empty and wonder where the beer went, then you vaguely recall drinking it in a semi-catatonic state of bliss. Poured much darker than most hefes - and the aroma was packed with yeasty aromas. Tingly and bright in the mouth, with loads of yeasty spices - cloves, nutmeg, anise - any more spice and it could pass for a spiced winter warmer. At the same time, the spices were well moderated and did not go over the top or become tiresome. I normally think of hefeweizens as a summer beer, but this one is going in my fireside lineup. (625 characters)

Walking around the streets of Munich, i was happy to have stumbled blindly into the Weiss Brauhaus where I had my first Schneider Weiss Tap 1 Mein Blonde... The beer served in it's appropriate glass had a nice golden glow and the taste was very smooth and delicious. The best beer I had in Germany. (298 characters)

A definite classic, and considering that the Schneider brewery concentrates its efforts solely on weissbier, this should come as no surprize. Excellent spiciness, with strong clove notes, though not so spicy as to override fruit notes. It is this balance that gives this beer its rightful place in the pantheon. (313 characters)

Pours very cloudy and brown with some gold color. The cask version skips a highlight of this on regular tap or bottle - the almost champagne like bubbles. Smells of citrus - especially orange and some lemon. Excellent hefeweizen taste with orange present again and a refreshing overall flavor. (293 characters)

Tawny, murky liquid. Aromas of clove, cinnamon, birch, sawgrass, plantain and ebony. Exotic...complex. The tightly fizzy, dense, smooth texture gives in to lingual pressure to slowly unfold a mysterious package of antique treasures. Old brass, pressed flowers, Madagascar spices, diesel. A deep, soulful, yet never heavy Hefeweizen. (332 characters)

I thoroughly enjoyed this Hef. I am a big fan of this German type of beer, and it is my most sought after beer. Bought this at BevMo and brought it home, frigged it for a bit, then drank with a nice size lemon slice. I would definitely recommned this one for a warm summer day, or even after a long day at work. The citrus flavors that burst out of this beer are amazing and cannot be passed up. If you life Hefe's you must try this one! (437 characters)

To me this is what a german Hefe is all about. The spicy clove like flavor and aroma. The fruity / banana thing going on. Good wheatyness and sour ending make this one fine weizen. Some may say that the phenols and the esters are too much but not this reviewer. If you don't like the spicyness move to a Frazikaner or an Oberdorfer. (332 characters)

Light orange (before and after swirl) with a lively white head. Classic spicy clove and banana-ish aroma. MOre spicy than fruity but a decent balance and a nice tart finish. Medium bodied (leans light due to carbonation) and creamy.

Very solid ! Probably my 2nd favorite Hefe after Weihenstephen.

[16.9 oz bottle for $2.99] A bit pricey but worth it ! (357 characters)

Pours a dark golden amber color with a nice frothy white head that stays until the end (which wasn’t all that long for me with this beer). Nose is ripe banana, citrus, clove, vanilla, and nutmeg. Fine champagne-like carbonation is very crisp and refreshing in the mouth. Taste is quite fruity with a bit of spiciness and some bready notes and a semi-dry finish. Near infinite drinkability. This is an outstanding Hefe. Great for a warm Texas January afternoon! (461 characters)

This is a fine and beautiful Hefe-Weizen. This German brewery is probably one of the best breweries on the planet. I have yet try something they have made and not find it to be the example beer for that style. These people are not taking a stab at the benchmark - they are the benchmark. This one has a taste that is hinting at fruit and a subtly of bananas with a slight hint of lemon on the finish. The mouthfeel is silky and drawn out by the yeast. The finish is clean and refreshing. This artisan beer is an absolute must try and should be a staple in any serious beer drinkers inventory. (592 characters)

One of the best Bavarian Hefe Weizen beers available in the US. Best served in a proper glass, followed by a moment of sheer admiration at its beauty, then drunk. No need for lemon. (181 characters)

The very best Hefe-Weizen in the world. It poured a thick, hazy golden wheat color with a fair amount of foam and nice lace. The smell of wheat, malt and cloves was so mouth watering, that I couldn't wait to take my first sip. The taste was fantastic. It had it all. The taste of cloves and spices, with a hint of bananas mixed with wheat and malts were the most well balance Hefe-Weizen I've tasted. All this and a sweet feel your mouth with just enough tartness to balance out this perfect beer. Thumb's up to Schneider & Sohn. This is on top of my list for wheat beers! (572 characters)
