Got this at the bottle shop on my street.
Into a chalice.
APPEARANCE: Small one finger medium tan head with good retention. Sangria red in color, clear with lower end carbonation. Head fades to a thin film that remains until the end but leaves no lacing down the sides.
SMELL: Sweet caramel malt and some sweet candy sugar. Some spiciness from the yeast, coriander, and a hint of alcohol. Some sour green apples and some odd kind of tough industrial scent, like varnish or something. The scent almost gave me a headache. The nose misses the typical dark fruits so common to the dubbel as well. Don't smell this one for too long.
TASTE: Sweet caramel malt again and lots of sweet candy. Yeasty spices, coriander, and a touch of spicy alcohol as well, but not overpowering. Slight tart and sourness as well. Aftertaste is sweet-sour, strong and long lasting. Kind of sugary cola-like on the finish. Didn't pick up the industrial varnish in the taste profile, so it wasn't quite as bad as the nose. Misses the dark fruits that almost define the dubbel style.
PALATE: Medium-light body with lots of carbonation. Not quite creamy smooth enough on the palate. Goes down fine but finishes a little too cloying for my liking.
OVERALL: A huge let down. My bottle shop just got these in, but unfortunately I won't be going back to this one. Not enjoyable at all really, and basically dumped the last half of it. This might be the worst dubbel I've ever had. Avoid.

L- Deep chestnut brown, clear, pours with short pale tan head.
S- Quite deep, some pungency and malty/fruity richness.
T- The taste follows the malty/fruity^. It's surprisingly sweet for a 7.0%, strikingly so, it's a good job I served it well chilled.
F- Well it's quite heavy and rich, I suspect it's intended as a slow sippin' winter beer?
O- The malt/fruit of the taste is nice, but the sweetness of this is seriously OTT in my experience. Shame, I certainly will not be buying this one again and expect to be rating this below it's current score of 83.
250ml bottle Bb: 02-02-2021 Bought from BeersOfEurope (UK). Dinky 250ml bottle. The lable has been redesigned it's now simpler, smaller, in blue/orange+white and art deco style.

De cervezas belgas, Almuñecar. 5 meses pasada de fecha. En copa Grimbergen. Viendo Mr Robot 3x09-10. Excelente dubbel, con las notas acarameladas muy ricas y equilibradas, dandole un sabor muy agradable sin resultar en absoluto cargante ni cabezona. 0 notas fuera de lugar. Lastima su pequeño formato (25cl)

Pours a dark-brown color with a small top of beige head that dissolves quickly and leave some lacings on the glass. Aroma is of dark malts, caramel, raisins and dates, but is not particularly strong. The taste is sweet and malty with notes of raisins, caramel and bread. Finish is slightly dry and bitter. The flavours and the finish is a little flat, and the sweetness is a little intens.
Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel. Mouthfeel is soft and clean but a little watery.
A decent and drinkable dubbel, but nothing very exiting with it.

A good Belgian dubbel bought in a french supermarket (Carrefour).
I wasn’t expecting it to be better than Westmalle or Wesvleteren but it’s still a fine beer on a cooler fall evening.

Had on tap. Nice amber/copper appearance. The malt work is well done, with both sweet and earthy tones. The smell is more classic to style with caramel, yeast and malt leading. Overall a solid dubbel, but nothing too luxurious or adventurous.
