On draught at In De Wildeman, appearence is dark brown with a small tan head leaving very heavy lace.

Smell is sweet, sugary, grapes.

Taste is very sweet and fruity. Intense grape esters remind me of Abbey De Rocs.

Mouthfeel is sticky but light.

Drinkability is high for me, a lovely beer with lots of fruity esters, which I love, accentuating the sugars without being to cloying.

A: cola colour, small head that doesn't linger

S: citrus, some malts, a lot of sweetness and not very complex

T: some malts, hint of lemon and an overall sweetness

M: some creaminess; slightly undercarbonated; sticky

O: reminds me more of cola than of beer, it is drinkable but nothing more

Bottle served into a Ciney goblet in a cafe in Brussels, Belgium. Reviewed from notes taken June 2011. Cost was 3.00 euro.

A: Pours a one finger head of nice cream, good thickness, and average retention. Colour is a nontransparent dark brown.

Sm: Caramel, hops, cream, and light toffee.

T: Nice cream on the finish. Caramel, toffee, and full barley come through. Very pleasant. Some nutty hops. Very balanced. Well built, with good layering - especially of the malts. Attention was paid to this beer. No alcohol comes through.

Mf: Creamy, smooth, and wet. Too high an ABV to be refreshing. Complementary of the flavours on the body.

Dr: High ABV, good quality, and very fair pricing. I'd have this again for sure. Recommended for fans of dubbels.

25 cl Bottle. Poured into my cantillon tulip glass

Clear medium to dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to light heavy yeasty, brown sugar / candy sugar. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

33cl bottle into a Ciney goblet.

A: Clear dark ruby-brown body under a solid 2-finger head of creamy tan foam. Good retention, lots of lace. Nice.

S: Strong aroma mixing chocolatey malt, rasiny fruit, and spicy booze in equal measure. Solid, but unremarkable.

T: Raw malt up front, with some sweet raisin fruitiness fallin in behind, a bit of metallic twang, and a clean, lightly boozy finish. The metallic flavors are unwelcome, but it's otherwise good.

M: Very lively, frothy, effervescent medium body. Ok.

O: Not a great beer, but not a bad one either.

Cheers!

Purchased from Spar Grocery Store, Dinant, Belgium

25cl bottle poured into a tulip glass

A: Dark amber with a small head with decent retention.
S: caramelized malts and yeast; hint of floralness and fruit.

T: Malty and a touch of caramel; slightly sweet.

M: medium carbonation, lighter body than you’d expect.
D: This is an average Belgian brown ale; nothing special. A good beer, but nothing I’d go out of my way to purchase again.

25cl into a tulip. Pours a dark cola, deep garnet when back lite. Dense mocha colored head, nice sheet lacing.

Aroma is of spicy dark fruits, hints of ginger, clove and port.

Taste is fairly strong of raisins and figs backed by quiet roasted caramel. Flavor matches the scent. Aftertaste is short lived. Improves with warmth as vinous qualities appear. Smooth medium bodied mouthfeel.
cheers
