I've read a lot about State Line on BA and since I was driving from Washington home to Philadelphia on a Friday night, I thought I'd stop by.

Located just off Exit 109 on I-95, State Line doesn't look like much from the road. In fact, it looks like your average run-of-the-mill rural liquor store. The signs outside are for BMC products and provide no hint to the great selection within.

The place is smaller than I thought it would be, but the beer selection was unparalleled. There were American craft selections from local-ish breweries such as Dogfish Head and Clipper City as well as nationwide craft giants such as Stone, Great Divide, Goose Island, Bear Republic, etc.

As great as the US selection was, the international selection was even better. I saw beers at State Line from the UK that I hadn't seen since I lived in England a decade ago. The Belgian selection was fantastic as well.

The staff was very friendly as well. I was asked several times if I needed help and the cashier signed me up for their club saving me 5% on six packs and 10% on bombers. A great deal.

I travel I-95 between Philly and DC very frequently and now I know I'll be stopping in Elkton every time.

Finally made it down here and I was very impressed. Reasonable prices and a huge variety. The staff was super helpful searching for three items for me. They also helped cart my haul off to my car. One of the better service experiences I have had at a store in a while. Definitely making plans to come back.

Boy do I wish I lived closer to this place. Unbelievable selection. Reasonable prices although they have gone up recently. Helpful staff members always available. Perhaps the best bottle shop in the state of MD.

State Line, what a mythical creature! Finally I am in you… but who would know as you pull into the parking lot and peer at the ramshackle building full of cheap signs and garish neons. It doesn’t matter- once you’re inside and find the beer, you will be in massive awe.

12 different Bruery brands, the entire Southern Tier lineup, Old Stock 2011 Brandy, Amager and To Ol from Scandinavia, Emelisse and more Evil Twin than I even thought possible. And I’m only talking about the rarer stuff!

Prices are reasonable, service is super nice. They have a growler bar. It’s as good as you thought, and then some.

Has a lot of expired beer like someone said. I rated it high for the excellent tasting events they have.

Watch out for old beer!!!
Great place, huge selection and decent prices, I'll definitely be back. But I was stunned by the number of expired beers I saw. Saw multiple variety 12 packs that were 9-12 months old. I wouldn't trust anything that doesn't have a date on the bottle. Unless you're looking for an aged barleywine, etc.

Just returned from a road trip State Line and I have to admit, it really is a damn fine outlet! The staff were very helpful, they had everything I was looking for except 22oz Torpedo, which they had run out of and one of the guys actually apologized for having done so. Their web site is accurate, they have a ton of beers and a bunch of taps in the back. In all, it was well worth the 90 minute drive! Dropped $135 and came away feeling like a total winner.
