Special release for "Beer Test 2003" in Denmark so the brewery could decide which new beer to bring to the market...
Appearance: golden/yellow color (almost like a Pilsner Urquell, almost), satin-white head forms but dissipates rather quickly leaving a thin cap, brilliant clarity, some lace
Aroma: round bouqet of continental hops with a sprinkling of Saaz, a touch of grain and cornsilk, a wee bit of skunkiness (semi-green bottle)
Flavor: assertive bitterness throughout, a pleasant hop flavor, balanced towards bitterness (very little malt flavor), finishes dry with a lingering piney tang (like the "nut" inside a peach pit)
Mouthfeel: light medium body, crisp carbonation, a touch of astringency
Overall: Carlsberg's rendition of a Czech Pils. The flavor is similar to a reduced abv Elephant. The bitterness is a little more overpowering than I'd like in a Czech Pils (Danish water is quite a bit harder than Czech, so that might be why). All in all, not a horrible beer. And they ALMOST nailed the color of a PU... a little more gold and they've got it.
