Pleasing surprise, nothing remarkable but it felt pretty decent out of the blue for a braggy macro offering.

Presentation: 33 cl green capped bottle. Green label with royal emblem. Highlights all malt character. Notes best by date (09MAR11) Shows Alc. by Vol. (5.0%) Served in a tall beer glass.

A - Golden pour with long frothy head, fair retention and lacing.

S - Light grainy and hoppy sense. Not a trace of a skunky memory.

T - Lightly malty, grainy, with a nice and gentle hoppy touch, subdued but relatively pleasing.

M - Light body with moderate carbonation, which works fairly well.

D - Rather fresh and correct, surprisingly better than the other predictable offerings sitting next to it.

Notes: Maybe I was expecting so much less from this one. But this offering seems to have been rather fresh, and while unremarkable and not much of my liking, finding a middle of the road lager with no skunky trace, at least on this serving, was quite a surprise. Advertises an all malt bill and today it seemed to be the case. Is it another recipe on this Spanish distribution?

This is not that bad of a beer as it hits all the right notes for drinkability though does lack in the hops department compared to say Grolsch. A little on the sweet side but still nicely balanced this is a much better beer than Heineken or Becks. Seems in a can it tastes fresher than in a bottle

pours out of the green 33cl bottle a pure gold clour with ample carbonation supporting a relative thin head...which leaves very little lace. it has that euro lager aroma...along with some pale malt character, some grass and grain with some subtle herbal hoppiness. flavour is bit muted with some more light graininess intertwined with a bit of grassy herbal hops. rather bland in nature with nothing really standing out as far as any taste is concerned. medium bodied at best; slightly metallic mouthfeel with a dryish finish. ok drinkability...and overall just ok and quite average for it's style...and BTW this is more of a euro pale lager rather than a german pils.

had a few bottles of this given to me so i didn't pay for it, and if i never have the opportunity to sample this again, i won't be missing anything.

A golden pour, high carbonation but minimal head, lacing etc. . .

Aroma was definitely Euro skunk. I feel slightly exotic at this point.

Taste, wow, still an alcohol burn, not as bad as their Elephant, but still, for only 5%, I would hope there would be a better masking of said alcohol. Minimal hopping, slight bitterness melds with alcohol. No body. Normally, something this basic would get a warm weather recommendation, but because of the high alcohol burn, it just doesn't even come across as a warm weather burn.

12oz bottle at the Old Chicago.

Light golden colour with about a half inch of foam. Plenty of bubbles rising to the top. This looked really good...

The smell had a touch of bitterness with most of the aroma being metallic. Not a big turn on for me.

The taste was lightly bittered, had some notes of grain and a wee bit of sweetness. Boring as all hell.

Usual mf for the style, I didn't find this very drinkable at all and I won't revisit.

and so it begins another adventure down the road of the bottom of the barrel. stopped in the store on the way home and grabbed a few more tonight. served cold and poured into a pint glass, this one was consumed on 08/16/2010.

ok we might have something worth a shot here. pours out a crystal clear golden amber with a ton of white foam on top that gradually settles down into a thin film around the sides and the bottom. aroma is nice, light grains, small bittering hops, i hate to say i am impressed but that horrible stench in not there. follows through nicely on the flavor which is light, crisp and clean and offers a touch of light grasses and hints of bready malts. light finish with a clean and defined taste.

this was actually not that bad, i could see myself turning to it again one time, maybe.

This beer was a must have for a Liverpool fan like myself. I got a can of it in Canada at the Beer Store. It was a very average beer. It had a darker look to it and smelled very metallic. It tasted better than many of the American Pilsners. It had a much better feel and was much more drinkable than all of them too.

Cheers!

Ordered this because it was the only beer they served at the scandinavian restaurant I was at. Virtually undrinkable. Don't waste your time or money on this beer. It should not even be listed as a german pilsner. I made it through a quarter of a pint before I gave up.

Smells of grain, a bit of hops and perhaps some corn. Pretty standard for style it seems.

Some grassiness first is apparent on the taste....a mild bit of cookie veggie or something along those lines as well. There's a firm hop backbone here, which differentiates it from many other popular Euro lagers we receive here. The hoppiness has a fair amount of staying power...and the finish is rather clean. There's a small amount of grain perceptible after the swallow, but not much.

All in all, a clean beer. Nothing to sneeze at, and better than most green bottle Euro macros we receive.

Appearance clear amber color, perfectly translucent, pour the foam is the average
of relatively slow dissipation, foam bubble middle of a good size, light in
waste, low carbonation, light body.
Aroma fresh, low in hops and malt. Not much flavor, cool almost like water,
a very thin final between bitter and acidic, with hints of malt.

Poured from a 33cl bottle into a pint glass.

A - Pale amber colour, minimal head.

S - Sweet honey and wheat. Touch of grass.

T - Taste is slightly sweet but somewhere between a clean flavour and a malty one. This is combined with some grassy overtones and a bit of citrus.

M - Mild bitterness which is enjoyable - more typical of a lager than a pilsner. Malt coats the mouth.

D - It's ok without being exciting so overall it's bearable. Quite easy to drink but just another working-day beer.

A- Pours a clear straw golden with just a bit of a head on it.
S- Smell is of import skunk lager, sulfer, grassy.
T- Just a bit of herbal and grassy hops give a quick flash before subsiding into a grainy/grassy import lager flavor.
M- Light bodied and very smooth.
D- There is not anything explicitly outstanding about this beer but I find it highly drinkable and generally inoffensive. Reasonably sessionable. I would, however, characterize it as a euro pale lager instead of a german pils.

A: Poured into a Surly pint glass. The small head is quickly lost no lacing present. The beer is a nice golden color.
S: I don't smell much of anything... it smells a bit malty and a bit like wet newspaper.
T: The beer has some malty flavor, there is nothing much to put your finger on. Decently well balanced with some alcohol profile. For being a pils there is not much hops to speak of.
M: Thin mouth feel with a little alcohol bite.
D: It is not the best tasting beer, but it is highly drinkable.

The beer was better than I was expecting, I would drink it over most other European imports.

I'm conflicted. Here's a beer that looks really nice in the glass, with its clear lemony color, its frothy white head and its zillions of tiny bubbles streaming from the bottom of the glass. Yet here's a beer that smells like skunk and piss and tastes only marginally better and is loaded with gas. If you must drink it, do so quickly. The moment it warms up is the moment you'd rather be drinking bong water.

Can into a pint glass...Pours a pissy super clear, light white head, gone right away...The smell and taste are both just god awful. Aroma is light hops with skunkiness. The taste is skunky too but has a horrible aftertaste that is just so bitter piss water it almost makes me choke when I swallow.

This beer is horrible, skip it.

Out late to an Irish pub in the north loop and noticed this in the tap lineup. I knew it was something European but that's about it. Pleasantly surprised to see that its a Danish beer. Don't believe I've had one yet. On to the review:

Looks like a deep amber with healthy head that neither gets bigger of falls off, stays consistant. Smell is very malty and sweet with a hint of some noble hops. Taste/mouthfeel is thick and full with malt and a balanced bitterness. Drinkability is alright.

A - Really good. The green can with gold looks inviting from the outside, and the inside is a medium-golden beer that retains a nice head for a while, leaves plenty of lacing in a glass.

S - Great. Corn, hops, lively aromatic flavor.

T - Great. Only downfall being the strong alcohol profile.

M - Feels nice and lively with lots of refreshing carbonation hitting the tongue.

D - It would make a great session beer if it weren't for it's one flaw: the overwhelming alcohol taste.

Do try it though. It is worth trying most definitely because it's a pilsner that has some unique traits not found in many others (in a good way). Delicious if you want to think about the beer you are drinking (the alcohol is quite the reminder).

440ml can poured into a standard English pint pot.
A poor offering from the Danes when compared to their Special Brew.

A. Straw coloured with a big white head.

S. Maybe a little malt but nothing else.

T. If water has any taste then it tastes like this, very, very bland.

M. Thin

D. There was so many bubbles in it all it needed was a goldfish swimming in it and it would resemble a minute aquarium!! Seriously it drank smoother than it looked. Not a bad drink - if you are into this type of beer. Great for sinking in one swallow an a hot day as I did, certainly not a beer to get enthusiastic about.

While touring Hamilton, Bermuda on a fairly hot day, we stopped in a bar and I had a couple of these. Very refreshing, but so is cold water.
The beer was a gold color with a medium sized white head.
Vaguely floral and sweet malt aroma.
Very little taste, just a bit of hops.
Certainly a session beer. Not much else to recommend it.

Appearance: Pale, gold color with a steady stream of bubbles.

Smell: Faint hop odor combined with a hint of hops. This beer also has a metallic character.

Taste: Slight bread-like flavor noted in the malts with a medium hop flavor. In all, the flavors are well balanced.

Mouthfeel: Thin.

Drinkability: A potable brew that gos well with beef and pork.

12 oz bottle pours a crystal clear medium gold color with a large, creamy two fingers of white head. Fades at a moderate clip and leaves some decent lace in it's wake.

Nose is grainy, pale malts with a hint of skunk tail and metallic twang. Why do most of these green bottle, pilsener-esque beers smell the same?

Taste is cereal graininess balanced by a grassy hop presence. There is still a lingering cardboard and metal flavor that is a bit unpleasant. Still though, it is better than most exported brews that come from countries north of Germany. Not bad, went down easy and the hop flavors were actually pretty nice. I would drink this again as long as it was fresh and not lightstruck.

I went down to the liquor store in search of a new beer to try. I came across carlsberg and it looked cool, so I bought a 6 pack. It comes in these weird 11.2 oz bottles.

The beer looks decent in a pilsner glass. It is a foggy golden color with a mediocre head. It has a good smell. It smells like hops and straw. The smell isn't overpowering. The beer tastes good. It has a strong hops flavor with subtle veggie and floral like flavors also. The taste is not that bitter either. The beer. has a very smooth feeling in the mouth. It does not feels like soda water at all. It's drinkability is reasonable. I wouldn't say it's a beer for chugging, but it goes down well.

I am impressed with this beer. I thought it would be another mass produced German lager that has no character. I enjoy drinking this beer. It has a unique flavor and aroma. I'm totally buying this beer in the future. It's a little pricey but I'd say it's worth the money.

440 mL can poured into a pint glass.

This Danish macro lager is not a bad choice when you need to buy cheap beer. I don't get it that often, but I recently needed to cut down on my beer budget, so I got a case of 15 for £8, which is pretty thrifty. On to the beer . . .

A: clear yellow brew underneath a foamy white head that dissipates in moderate speed, but leaves lots of attractive lacing.

S: sweet and floral with a bit of grain and sweetpeas (which I almost always get with pilsners).

T: not outstanding, but not band. Again, for a macro lager, this is about as good as it gets; some unpleasant bitterness in the finish.

M: active carbonation and bite.

D: more drinkable than other beers in this price range.

Very good consistent light and refreshing lager. The mouthfeel is good, and drinkability is great. This beer is good year round, but great for a hot summer day. I felt like I was cheated a bit, because the beer comes in 11.2 ounce bottles. A bit on the pricey side, but it is a much better alternative than something like a Heineken.

M - well carboated. Not bad.
D - medium to high, would egt boring but were it free id never complain.
A not bad brew overall, not the most exciting though.
