This bottle is from one of the first batches, before the ingredients were certified as organic. The beer is flavoured with Sea-buckthorn.
The colour is yellow with tints of gold and orange; the liquid is a little hazy. The finger thick airy head is off white.
The smell is bitter with notes of lemons/limes, sweet notes of corn some fruity grassy hops and an interesting touch of seaweed.
The first notes are hoppy: Bitter-dry and grassy notes fades slowly, leaving room for sweet gentle flavours of toasted white bread, and a passing metallic flavour that ends in a fine full bodied and balanced flavour with some exotic fruits. The generous aftertaste brings lots of fruity flavours - kiwi, star fruit, passion fruit, strawberries and a well moderated mature bitterness.
The carbonation is medium to strong; the liquid is somewhat smooth.
An interesting high quality pilsner beer with very interesting flavours of the fruity berries.
Carlsberg might be a so-and-so giant conglomerate, but their in house micro brewery Jacobsen just keep on creating highly interesting and drinkable beers!
