On tap at the brew pub. Bartender said it was 1/2 aged on oak, and 1/2 aged in Apple Jack barrels and blended.

A- Poured a nice coffee color into the tulip glass. Not much of a head, decent little whisps of lacing cling to the glass.

S- First smell was faint sour apples and deep roasted malts. Picked up more and more of the maple syrup and vanilla from the oak as it warmed up. Nothing insanely complex here, but a perfect brew for a chilly fall day.

T- Had to wait for it to warm up a bit. Didnt taste anything other than a little tart apple and roasted malts when it was right off the tap. It really opened up and bloomed once it came to room temp. Sweet maple syrup, chocolate malts, vanilla/oak and crispy fall apples were all balanced very nicely! Each sip let the different flavors bounce all over your taste buds.

M- A touch to thin. I was hoping for a bigger mouthfeel but I rarely find that from dark brews at little brew pubs. Really nice flavor, but lacking in body.

O- Very nicely done! Wish more of the maple syrup would shine thru. Pretty unique take on a maple porter. A touch too much apple, and not enough maple. Really wish they would thicken this one up! They had 4-packs available so I grabbed one. Not cheap tho! $17, but I like to support my local brew pubs and I can send some out in trades.

A: Pours a dark brown body with a thin, creamy, off-white head; spotty lacing.

S: Rich roasted malts with slight maple syrup notes and chocolate malts aroma.

T: Initial flavors taste like a standard American Porter with roasted malts, bitter chocolate malts, and some smoke. It finishes with sweet maple syrup.

M: Medium to thin body; low carbonation; creamy and silky texture.

O: Really enjoyed this beer to the point that I got a growler to go (not a good idea since the bartender didn't purge and it was flat by the time we got home). Really easy to drink and a nice fall treat. Although I wish the maple syrup had a stronger flavor, it finishes nicely.
