A: pretty clear; honey colored; 1 finger head that receded over a couple minutes to a thin film; sheets of lace;

S: more than anything, I smell strawberry; with tropical fruit in the background; there is another smell that I can't place that is a little off putting;

T: pine that stays all the way through the finish; citrus is there as well; well balanced; moderately bitter finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; dry finish;

O: very drinkable; a little too much pine for my taste and I just can't place the smell;

A: An aggressive pour into a pint glass only yielded a 3/8 inch, off-white head, which lasted for 5 seconds. Non-transluscent amber-orange color.

S: Sweet and malty, bordering on buttery. Overwhelmingly 'wild' aroma probably due to addition of Amarillo hops. There is no 'citrus aroma' as the label suggests.

M: Full and cloying, for an IPA. Not very crisp, but smooth.

T: For a beer toting 71 IBUs, the bitterness is very subdued, and provides a supporting backbone to overwhelming buttery sweetness. The initial burst of lemon is quickly overcome by a sweet caramel flavor. As the beer warms, there is a nuttiness as the sweet blends with the bitter. The bitterness will remain in the aftertaste for awhile.

O: It reminds me a lot of Bell's Two-Hearted, which I'm not a fan of in terms of what I savor when it comes to IPAs; I just don't like to taste caramel in my IPAs.

A: Poured from a 32oz. growler into a pint glass. Pours a clear, golden brown color like grade A fancy maple syrup. A little head with minimal lacing.

S: Great hop aroma up-front with some light bread notes throughout. Bright citrus rind, pine sap, wildflowers, and a touch of dirt are the inviting aromas wafting out. Inviting, and without any hint of bitterness.

T: Tastes like a hoppy toasted biscuit. A nice bitterness on the end, with a warm malt backbone and some light hop aromatics floating on top. Grass is a predominant flavor, with some rye bitterness, a touch of nuttiness, and some tasty pine hop on the swallow. It's a dry, bitterly aromatic IPA.

M: Smooth, crisp, but a bit flat (could be the growler...) with a bitterness that hollows out your cheeks. Overall it's not overpowering in the mouth, but leaves with a kick.

O: I've had this beer many times before, and this is the first time I've reviews it under it's new name (formerly Indian Pale Ale) but I've been less impressed this time around. Perhaps it's the keg I got it out of, or the trip home making it flat, or perhaps I've never really sat down and tasted this beer with a critical eye before. Either way, it's a solid, local New York IPA that should be tried. Unfortunately, this go-round wasn't the best. I'll update if I have another batch that knocks my socks off.
