A: extremely carbonated. fluffy uneven head. carbonation rushing to the top like I've never seen. slightly dull gold.

S: alcohol very apparent, yeast and therefore bready.

T: alcohol is quite forward, however fairly well blended. otherwise difficult to describe. soft and medium bodied. slightly yeasty

M: Soft but mutely astringent

D: Not bad, but the flavor doesn't stand out. inoffensive but uninteresting.

330 ml. bottle. Golden colour, pours a big head that fades soon, leaving a big lace and a ring on the surface. Smell of fruit, specially bananas. some Citrus, spices. Medium body, good carnbonation. Taste of bananas, citrus, peach. Good, but not excellent.

A: nearly clear, gold-tinged yellow in color... impressive, tufted-cottony tower of foam, bright white in color, nice staying power... left the lees in the bottle - not much

S: unripe bananas, subtle shortbread malts, esters the scent of grape skins and nutmeg... the mildly medicinal, phenolic spice cuts through all else... not much depth behind it

T: assertive, lasting, vaguely clove-y phenolic spiciness with a supple hop bitterness atop a base of clean pilsner malts... perhaps a touch of toasted biscuit on the back end... all about the spicy alcohol notes here, as if they're trying to say "this is our tripel. it'll do the job!"

M: a bit too light-bodied and airy... good bit of residual carbonation - seems to expand and fill the mouth with air on the way down - not diggin' that... moderately dry finish... alcohol seems to stun and numb the taste buds a good bit

O: eerily similar to Victory's Golden Monkey... pretty basic, industrial tripel... kinda comes across as a premium malt liquor, or something of that nature... hardly extraordinary... had a few of Haacht's beers now - at the moment, kinda seeing them as Belgium's BMC - similar recipes, little variance

The initial pour is clear and straw yellow with a foamy white head and froth. Aroma of phenolic yeast, bread, honey and herbal hops. In the taste, more of the same, sweet malt, dusty, phenolic Belgian yeast, table sugar, and herbal malts. Very clean and easy drinking. Keeps bringing back a tempered sweetness and dry, woody hops. Medium bodied and well carbonated, dry, almost tannic finish. Overall, a good triple but just above average.

Rather translucent light blonde-colored ale with a massive three and a half finger head. Serious lace and rocky-top foam retention.

Big Belgian nose of spicy banana and malty white bread. Phenol clove and pear and chewy malts. Semi-musty and bruised fruitiness, thank you yeast. Forefront malty punch with layers of breadth. Reduced are the notes of alcohol and a spry citrusy hop.

Malts have the same character, but diminished, with added pilsner-y tones. Same clove, lesser yellow banana, spiciness, white bread, faint treacle with contributing sweetness, and finishing alcohol warmth. Sting of the booze, coupled with a lagery bitternesd, makes for a long aftertaste. Some semblance of citrusy hops are in play, but in small roles.

Chewy, chunky dried head and mushy wet body. It has a backbone, with that 9%. Not afraid to be a big boy. Good stuff.

Good. I'd love to try more from this brewery.

Coming in a 330ml slim brown bottle, BB 28/08/14, served chilled in a long-stemmed wine goblet.

Appearance: pours a lightly translucent, bright golden colour with lively and fine carbonation in action, topped with a thin off-white creamy head to last.
Smell: the lively Saaz’ hop aroma comes in perfect harmony with the dense and perfumy fruit esters, featuring ripe bananas, pears, sweetened lemons, underlined by sweet vanilla, melted rock sugar and exotic mung bean paste. Fulsome and richly estery all in all.
Taste: light-bodied and mildly fizzy on the entry, the flavour is light-bodied sweet malty and overripe-fruit estery at the same time, edged by rather fine spicy elements and leaving a long and deepening flow of tangy, spicy and Saaz’ aromatic bitterness going down the rear of the palate, rendering a lightly chewy and yet dry-ish mouthfeel alongside the belated entry of alc. warmth.
Mouthfeel & Overall: refreshingly carbonated, moderate on the palate without going sugary/slick, while the alc. content hides very well in general, showing just a tinge of warmth in the very end of each patient sip. All in all, I find this Tripel a well-crafted one showcasing a charming estery theme on the aroma and a rather bitter and nicely spicy palate on top of a generally straight-forward but decent flavour profile.
