12oz. green bottle. Poured a clear and fizzy golden color with an initial thick head that quickly died out. No lacing of the glass. Aromas are tough to pull out but I note some bitter hops and some sweetness. Flavor is more of the same, balanced nicely. Fresh-tasting and crisp, it's another beer that would be a good one for a summer day.

How unfortunate that a Bier that was once somewhat revered has come to this. The appearance was about what I expected from this German Pilsener, however it was more pale and less heady than I had hoped. The aroma was that of some wanna-be hops. They were there, in some form or another, but they seemes bottled up somehow...restricted. Perhaps they are not real hops? At anyrate, the flavor quickly followed suit. The flavor seemed pastey, if not almost fake somehow. Sure, this is not a bad pilsener, but I have a feeling they could do much, much better.

This beer looks appetizing enough with its clear, pale straw color and soft head, but the aroma leaves something to be desired. It smells hoppy, but almost liked it has been dulled. It has a slight sweet tatse and a crisp finish. I keep wondering when the real hops are going to show themselves. This is not a bad beer, but it is trying to fit in with the mainstream beer drinker, which makes it a less than desirable product for a BA.

I had distinct expectations when I opened this bottle:a German Heineclone. The skunked smell that came out upon opening the bottle lowered my expectations. It poured a golden color, nice to look at but with no head, just like Heine. However, the taste was better than I expected. It had a hint of honey, and lacked the pronounced bitter flavor that mars Heine, Becks, and Pilsener-Urquell. This beer delivers more than the typical Lager, and I recommend that you give it a try if you find it.

The beer pours a light gold color with a thin white lace head. The aroma is typical lager; pale malts and yeast. It has a bit of a skunky scent; probably from the use of green bottles. The taste is decent. It is light and refreshing with a bit of hoppiness. It also has a skunky green bottle flavor that seems a bit metallic at times. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low bodied beer with good carbonation. It drinks well; a fine German pils.

Fairly small white bubbly head that recedes to a light lace. Clear, golden straw color with bubbles rising to the surface. Very grainy aroma with a noticeable bit of hops. Medium bodied with a crisp mouthfeel and a good amount of carbonation. The taste is very much like the aroma. Malt presence is predominantly grainy in nature. There’s no real sweetness to the malt here, and it tends to be reminiscent of crackers. Malt backbone is present throughout and becomes quite smooth towards the end just before the hops pick up and finish things out. The hop finish is mild and balances out the brew rather well, and lasts well into the aftertaste. Pretty good brew, but nothing I’d rush out to try again. Just not really my cup of tea. Although quite mild, I did find it fairly flavorful.

A thin head with average lacing. The golden-yellow colour is normal.

The aroma is sweet but a bit weak.

The taste starts out with a gentle sweetness and finishes with a long and pleasant bite of hops. Quite tasty, actually.

Fairly thin on the palate but an enjoyable and crisp, if not typical, beer.

A person could go through a lot of Dabs with ease over the course of an evening.

Green 33cl bottle, as pictured. Purity law applies. Best before 1/31/05. Pours a standard clear gold under a two-fingered contoured white head with a bit of retention and spots of lace. Nice strong nose, mainly hops, slightly skunky, but in a pleasant way. The mouth is very prickly and light. The taste opens with a bit of malt, but the hops kick in quickly. The bitter is mild, slightly metallic, but nice and crisp. The aftertaste is fresh and refreshing. Not a bad German pils.

It pours a nice golden colour as one would expect and has (to me) a rather nodescript smell and the taste... Is a mild tasting lager, nothing really exciting here. When I have had tastings of this alongside other lagers it has proved to be a somewhat sweeter and maltier tasting brew.
But at the end of the day DAB is a Lager and thats about the end of the story. Its a good value, good tasting, commonly available (at least where I am) beer but it doesn't really leap out with distinctiveness.

This is a great example of your average, run-of-the-mill german, euro-lager. It's blonde/gold in colour with a nice white cap of foam. The aromas are malts and hops....that's it. The taste is floral and fresh, with nothing much going on. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, but the drinkability is good...

A very nice lager that is said to be Dortmunder, but seemed almost Pilsenerish with some nice spicy hop bite. The golden body had a short-lived white head and minimal lace. The nose was malty with some light hops noted. Clean crisp feel from the tasty brew and very drinkable. A good session lager.

This is a surprisingly tasty beer. It's nothing that you wouldn't expect, but it's a very well executed lager I think. There's a very crisp body with a bit of a spicy hop bite, especially at the end. I actually consider this a pretty tasty lager, almost pilsnerish.

Eh, that's my opinion of this beer, "eh". I guess I was expecting the "famous dortmunder style" to have more well style. It is a very light, thin tasting beer very similiar to a Heineken, using that I assume to be the same hops. If you like Heineken, you will like this. If you don't, you won't. I don't and I didn't.

Overall impression was more hoppy than I would've expected from a German style. My bottle poured out with a big head that settled down after a few minutes. Yet it drinks like any lawnmower beer, but with a more rewarding taste. I'm starting to like Dortmunder as a favorite style.

Pours yellow with a small white foam on top that does not really want to stick around with you. Aroma is sweet and grainy. It is toned down, but it does have the right balance for a German brew.

The body is pretty light, and there is a definite lack of flavor in this brew. It is smooth and well-balanced with a nice malty flavor. It is mostly sweet, but it does have the necessary hop content. Very drinkable, but just nothing remarkable.

Once again I was leery of the green bottle. This time with good reason. Poured an average head with bright yellow colored body. Smell was skunky. Taste did not reflect the smell. It is pretty tasty. Malty and a little hoppy. A slight roasted flavor. I would have given this beer a higher rating except for the smell. It lowered each score .5

This beer poured a bright and clear pale yellow color. Had a frothy white head. Beautiful grainy aroma. Perfect. My tastes lean towards this style of beer, along with pilsners, and this one is right on the mark. The hops that come out, bitter this beer perfectly. Slightly oily sweet aftertaste. Ultra-crisp and very drinkable. Nothing to hide here, just great beer. Highly recommended.

I think that I was expecting a little more. A little more what...I don't know. Poured a straw gold colour with a small white head. Light.. no..very light malt nose. I found DAB to be reasonably bitter and surprisingly dry. Not the best I have tasted, but , not the worst. It reminds me a bit of some Aussie Lagers. (It's cheap so I will likely drink it again)

I've always enjoyed DAB. This is a style that has always appealed to me, and DAB is as good as most other examples. Unimpressive pour, average smell and appearance. Very good, smooth taste, however. Nice malt flavor, but crisp also. A very refreshing, tasty lager (if you don't get skunked). This beer has been somewhat hard to find fresh, and apparently has fallen out of favor. This is unfortunate, because it is one of the more substantial lagers.

Appearance: 500ml can. Poured a clear golden with a medium head. The head faded fast. Very little carbonation.

Smell: Mildy hoppy nose. Light hints of bread and yeast. Somewhat floral.

Taste: Enjoyable hoppiness. Nice maltiness gives it balance and body. Hoppy bitterness towarsd the finish and then smoothes out nicely.

Mouthfeel: Smooth and crisp.

Drinkability: A nice pils. I could down this easy drinker frequently. Enjoyable even if the style is not my favorite.

12 oz green bottle. Poured a clear straw yellow, with a big head that lasts and good lacing on the glass. Aroma has a hint of malt and little else. High carbonation, but very little in the way of taste, other than a bitter after taste in the finish. Would be a good session beer. But I wouldn't be the one drinking it.

Having this out of the bottle, and it's not bad.

Bright dark yellow, full bready smell. Head settled down right after pouring.

This has what I need in a pilsner: carbonation, crispness, slight sweet bready aftertaste. No mega-hops, just crispy sweetness.

Goes down good on a hot summers day. Will buy and drink again, no question. pat

12 oz green bottle with no freshness date, there is some odd code on the back label but that means nothing to me.

Appearance: Very pale yellowish golden colour, filtered clarity for sure. The thick and foamy white head sticks to the glass quite well.

Smell: The malt in the aroma is as faded as those acid washed jeans I had in the 80’s … weird muted hop in the nose as well.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Such a boring palate of pale pilsner malt, nice crispness and it really adds to the refreshing quality. The malt comes and goes with a clean flavour … again it is boring. Even worse is the hop bitterness which is like a knife without a sharp edge … dull with no flavour.

Notes: Two words “Hop Extract”. I have had better from this brewery, this beer is too processed and has no natural feel to it … a sad state from the last time that I tried it which must have been at least five years ago. Lastly … it tastes sterile.

Came in a white 500ml can with a freshness stamp on the bottom. Pours out a pale gold, small white head that recedes fairly quickly, not a heck of a lot of carbonation to be detected except for the odd bubble. Smells sweetish, faint metallic note, some clover honey and....apple juice. Flavour is average, carries that metallic tinge, nothing special at all, but an okay thirst quencher for a hot day. Still, I think I'd even prefer a Molson to one of these, especially regarding the price. Whoa, did I just say that out loud?!

Crisp and lightly hopped. Appearance is that of a lighter beer, but you soon know this is not a beer to be evaluated on looks alone. The hops show through into the aroma and taste, but does not have an overbearing hop presence. Pours with a beautiful long lasting head. This is a reasonably priced, well defining German lager.
