Pretty clerar golden with medium white, pancake head. Aroma is corny with some lager yeast, dry. Flavor is way sweeter than the aroma with lager yeast, corn, a little chalky, a little bit of spicey hops (surprisingly). Medium body with some creaminess. Similar to the hofbrau original but a little bit more corn and hops, definitely not as clean.

Beer has a dark bronze appearance with a good foamy head. Has a nice light aroma nothing distinct. The taste is light and crisp. It has light carbonation with a slight malt aftertaste but still refreshing. This is an enjoyable beer when having more than 1-2.

This beer poured a dark copper color with a good inch of head that stuck around a couple minutes, leaving behind a small amount of lace. It has a decent light malt aroma. This is a medium bodied beer with a malty taste with just enough hops to balance. A pretty tasty brew that I liked much more than the original.

This is a great example of your average, run-of-the-mill german, dark euro-lager. It's brown in colour with a nice white cap of foam. The aromas are malts and hops....that's it. The taste is malty and nice, with nothing much going on. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, but the drinkability is good...

This is a great looking beer. Very dark amber to bronze, crystal clear with a very decent tan head that lasts quite well and laces beautifully. A very nice malt nose is present, and surprisingly without skunk despite the stubbie green bottle. The taste is a very pleasant full lager taste of grain, slightly roasted, and robust. The feel is a tad watery and disappointing for the taste and look. A good beer that would improve with more body.

Burnt golden caramel under a lumpy cream.
Stinging sulfurous aroma bursts out intially, but thankfully does not last. Almost aromaless now, but better. Phantoms of cocoa powder and peanut shells.
A dusty pumpernickel accompanied by a lone chocolate-covered nut. Cut with water and impaled on a metallic spear of grassy Kraut hops. Acceptable, if bland.
Well carbonated, pils-like crispness. And down the hatch it goes.
Memorable this is not. More suited to wash down food, or pehaps even as a refresher.

Pours out with a great light tan head settling over rich reddish-brown liquid. Nose is terribly bland, lightly malty and something else I can't quite place...oh yeah, STALENESS! Taste is very little maltiness, and that which is, is mainly bitter roasted malt, some hops. Finishes with a seltzery mouthfeel...looks much better than it tastes, I believe I'm a victim of an "over the hill" six-pack of this stuff...I'll pass on this one.

Q: What's the best kind of beer?
A: Fresh beer!

Nice buttery rootbeer color. Variegated cream-colored head. Not too stiff.
Nice pure aromas of carob and mixed nuts...
Dry, simple and cool flavors of slate and bread. Soulful but static. The finish is punctuated with a hint of cocoa powder. The bubbles seem completely natural and lend just the righ amount of lift to the flavor profile.
A good refresher and highly drinkable.

Dab dark: Ah, the welcoming smell of skunk carcass! Reminds me of Wisconsin roads in July. Thin green bottle regurgitates a, hey, not half bad looking beer. Even better, it has a nice head, and great lace. But, how does one describe barley kept in a sophomore’s gym locker, unless one points out hops kept in a sweat sock dunked in a bad cup of tea, once. Really bad.

The body is a clear brown with crimson highlights capped by a creamy bone-white head that holds surprisingly well for the style and leaves some thin lace. The nose expresses grassy & floral hops above a toasty, dark caramel background - very nice! The body is light/medium with a very fine carbonation that's lightly crisp in the mouth. The flavor is rich with a combination of subtle dark toasted malt character (deep caramel with a just slightly acidic & mildly roasted edge) and grassy & floral noble hops. It remains, however, very much a drinkable lager! It finishes dry with a gently lingering sweet note of dark & toasty caramel malt that's borderline chocolatey. An excellent lager that's quite drinkable and yet retains enough character to keep it interesting throughout several glasses. An excellent "all year" beer that's as equally welcome at the summer barbecue as it is at the New Year's celebration! Very well done!

Initial aroma was a nice mix of pils type hops with a dark malt backing, but this quickly changed to a sweet water aroma. Head was initially full fizzy and light brown, but disappeared quite quickly. Clear, with mostly a brownish color. Flavor is subtle, noting a dark malt taste, with a dryness that feels more from the malt than hops. Also hard water charateristics noted. As one who doesn't drink dunkels often, it's a interesting mix of light lager crispness and feel with the strong dark malt characteritics but not strong flavor. Fullness is more from the carbonation than heaviness of the drink. As the glass empties the finish grows longer. This isn't that bad, I look forward to trying higher rated beers in this style.

Malty/musty nose. Brownish to red look. Almost a very deep red. Not much retention at all. Slight roast malt taste with touches of chocolate and nut. Not much mouth at all for a "traditional dark beer" as it says on the label. This beer is confusing from start to end... what style are they going for? Very low on the hop bitterness side. Not a very good "German imported beer" for my taste. Slightly watery feel and taste.
