Horrible, some of the worst beer ever.

Poured fairly aggressively but still came up with only about 1/4 inch of white head. The head didn't stay around and left no lacing. The beer is a clear golden colour.

The smell reminds me of cut grass. The smell is not very strong, which may be a good thing, cause it may become unpleasant if it was.

This beer is light on taste, not much to speak of, just a bit of a hop finish. Very watery. Reminds me of a lite beer really.

More carbonation then I would prefer takes away from the drinkability. With the lack of flavour of the beer, the carbonation makes it hard to find any taste.

A very conservative beer, doesn't put out any real personality. Not something I'd look for again.

330ml can (best before the end of May 2012) poured into a 'Hougaerdse DAS' tumbler on 5th July 2012. This was brought home for me by my parents from their world cruise.

No head but the body was typical lager/pilsner: pale gold and thin looking.

Sweet smelling and tasting; and not in a nice way really.

Might be fine in a hot steamy climate but it didn't work here in the UK. It was however better than the Duff beer I had before it.

FCC, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

In Cambodia they pronounced this as ‘An Chore’. This is because the much more common Angkor (considered the national beer of Cambodia) is pronounced like the nautical anchor.

Very thin white head of small bubbles. Little head retention but a tiny bit of lace was left behind.
Pale yellow colour and quite clear.
Very mild smell. Faint lager and DMS smells and a very faint hops smell.
Thin, with very little body.
Again, fairly crisp and clean tasting. Sweet with only a little bitterness and DMS. The slightest lingering of bitterness after the finish.

Didn't bother pouring out this beer that retailed for $2 a can in Singapore. Couldn't be bothered to wash up my goblet actually if I had poured. Haha.

It was just a good cold "soft drink". Bland and pretty much tasteless. Lacks body, texture. Imagine a brew with excessive gas and one that is really thin.

Would be good for a drinking poker game given the price. Otherwise, don't bother. A bottle of good beer could buy you a six pack of Anchor. That's how much it is worth.

A - clear like sprite and just as fizzy. Only a tiny bit of apple juice yellow color. Head was white but died in seconds

S - Like two skunks having a lemon fight. Faint adjunct malt smells

T - It's better than the smells. Corn and rice but slightly malty

M - It's surprisingly viscous for this type of cheap canned adjunct. All the fuzziness died before I wrote the second word.

D - This one is cheap enough and is drinkable enough for a third or fourth string beer.

Pale straw yellow in color, bubbly with a thin layer of foam on top.
No aroma. The cap smells slightly of tin.
Cold, thin and watery, goes down easy, finishing with a little tang.
Drinkability is fine if sitting out in the heat eating spicy food. I was.

This is "Anchor, a Smooth Pilsener Beer".

A boring, clear color with a cotton swab white top (say that 3 times fast). The smell is worty hops, like fresh hops. The taste is wet, sweet pilsener with a dusty aftertaste, light to medium body. The carbonation is light. I couldn't imagine having another of these really. Just not really much there..

This one was brewed and canned by Cambodian Brewery Ltd, under license form Asia Pacific Breweries.

Silver can with a red front, and two crossed anchors.

Pale yellow gold colour, with a small amount of head. Dissipates to an almost unnoticeable ring. No lacing.

Slightly malty nose, but no touch of hops. Also a hint of a banana ester. Not particularly appealing, nor is it really suitable for a pilsener.

Taste is more noticeably bitter, but has an unpleasant bubblegum and diacetyl flavour. Finishes very water, making me wonder if I actually took a sip at all. Mouthfeel weak, but fitting, I guess...

Yeah, you can slug this down with the other Cambodian swill. Not worth the effort to open the can.

As an aside, Cambodia has the unfortunate ambiguity of having two very similarly named beers widely available: Angkor and Anchor. Given that neither of these beers are good enough to warrant creating the confusion that inevitably occurs when you order one and receive the other, you wonder why they bother...

Poured from a 33cL can into a glass.

Clear gold. Malty sweet nose. Hm this is pretty nice (well, better than Angkor). It's malty and robust; sweet, yes, but mostly on the endtaste. The aftertaste is kind of gross. Overall, alarmingly decent.

Have to agree with laqueredmouse that it makes no sense to name a beer "Anchor" in Cambodia, as it sounds way to similar to "Angkor." Anyway, this one is also commonly available, sometimes on tap. Looks like all the other beers (you might as well be drinking Angkor, these two beers are pretty much indistinguishable). Nose is grain/yeast, taste is a SE Asian lager. Mouthfeel is superb though. Just kidding, it's thin. I would drink this stuff during a drinking game at a tailgate.
