Poured into a tumbler after shaking up the sediment it produces a thick white head that produces a lot of lacing. The appearance is light amber/orange and milky. The aroma is of pears, bananas, bread, cinnamon, cloves, and the taste follows accordingly. The feel is smooth and full bodied with a clean finish.

One of the more hefe of hefeweizen I've tried, it's a nice example of the style.

A - cloudy, straw color with a decent head and okay retention

S - clovey yeast phenols and wheat malt mainly with a touch of yeasty banana

T - sweet wheat malt with clovey yeast and a somewhat crisp hop on the finish, wheat tang is evident, banana character is somewhat subdued as the clove is the dominant yeast flavor

M - medium to light body, creamy, moderate carbonation

D - This is an okay example of a Weizen. It's certainly not the best I've had, but still very good. I have a feeling this would be much better closer to the source - perhaps even outstanding.

On tap at the Map Room.

Pours cloudy yellow with a white head--pretty standard for the style.

Smells of bananas, black peppers, and cloves. Nice profile, with the sweetness of the fruit balanced by wheatmalt spice.

Tastes, thankfully, like it smells: big nanners, black pepper. Flavors aren't quite as intense as the aroma led me to anticipate, but the palate is still nicely composed.

Not all that much to say, here. A very nice but somewhat lightly flavored hefe.

1 pint .9 fluid ounces into Barilla spaghetti sauce jar.

A: Super straw yellow with a slight haziness. 1 finger head that completely disappears.

S: Lemon grass tang with clove-banana-candy sugar-pink bubblegum wheatiness.

T: Tastes just like it smells

M: Kinda watery

D: Good beer. Made my afterwork delightful blessed soul!

Poured from a brown 16 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy dark golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of bananas, some clove. Taste is good, wheat, banana, clove, are all present, very refreshing. Feels full bodied in the mouth and overall this is a high quality beer.

A: This beer has a milky white, smooth looking head about a thumbs width thick, that stands for a very long time. Lacing is like a candle melting on glass, coating every side evenly. The color is an orange akin to apple cider, and the clarity is rather opaque. I don't see too much carbonation in the glass.

S: It has a slightly floral and fruity aroma. The floral boutique is like lavender, the fruity aroma is similar to light bananas and honeydew melon. There is a slight aroma of pungency, which smells of a German variety Noble hop.

T: I get a very mellow banana flavored taste, along with what tastes similar to sweet cream. The after-taste leaves some very extremely gentle flavor of the hops.

M: The mouthfeel is very light, but zesty with bubbles. It coats the mouth very nicely. It's not perfection, but very near.

O: Overall I would rate this as a good beer. It's not quite the best, and I'm willing to bet it would be straight 5.0's if it was a draft in a bar in Austria. I can taste that it's not quite perfect, but I would pick this one up off the shelf again in a heartbeat.

A- A very murky light orange liquid that has a bit of a gray aspect to it. The little head that there is settles to a few splotches and a ring around the edge. Not too shabby.

S- Bananas, clove, white bread, and a touch of strawberries. Pretty standard but at the same time well done.

T- Bananas, clove, and white bread with a pretty mild finish... maybe a touch of a mineraly aspect.

M- Very creamy with a nice carbonation presence. It definitely leaves a nice yeasty coating to the mouth on the finish.

D- A decent take on the style, drinks really nice on a sunny spring evening.

From a 16.9oz bottle into a Two Brothers Ebel's Weiss glass...

Appearance: Attractive cloudy golden yellow with a fluffy white head that should have stayed around longer.

Smell: Citrus with a strong note of banana that verges on vanilla, clove.

Taste: Bubblegum and yummy, clean finish left me wanting more.

Mouthfeel: The real negative about this beer was the lack of carbonation and light body. Out of character for what I'm used to for this style. It was flat before I was halfway done with the glass and I drink too quickly.

Drinkability: I could drink a lot of these. This was dropped off as a sample from a distributer who would like to replace Hacker Pschorr on our beer list with this. I'd think about it because I find it interesting, but it really lacks the carbonation and mouthfeel that I think most people might associate with this kind of beer.

pours out a nice golden, less opague than some other top hefes. decent head, not anything to write home about. the nose has a bit more citrus in it than some, smells light. taste wise? damn fine. banana, yeast, and lemon zing...all fine qualities of the hefe, and this beer gets them right. refreshing as hell, crisp in the mouth, while some weisse beers may be a bit more flavorful, this one takes the cake in drinkability. its a quencher. good stuff.

A hefe on a beautiful spring day, this review is set up for maximum success...

Pours an effervescent & semi-hazed straw color with 4 fingers of cream colored head. Hazes even more as the bottle is drained, above average lacing & head retention

S: Breadyness, bubblegum, & cloves

T: Follows the nose, plus lemons & appleskins up front. Juicy, bready & grainy as this warms along with more apple peels & cloves. Finishes grainy, bready & fruitty, with a nice juicy fruit twang

MF: Medium bodied, bubbly & slightly grainy & juicy

Drinkability is great, a nice quencher that hits all the right hefe notes

Poured from 16.9oz bottle(room temp) a hazy straw colour with a medium sized head of foam that dissipates slowly but stays for the entire session.

The smell is very wheaty and there's the strong nose of cloves. Pretty inviting.

The taste has an abundance of clove, banana, and wheat flavour but it's not overpowering....it's actually quite smooth and enjoyable.
The more I sip, the more I appreciate how the different "tastes" within this Hefe work so well together making for some pretty darned good drinkability. Yes...this will be one of my staples this coming summer season.!

Bottom line: Excellent Hefe with super smooth yet tasty taste.
I recommend it!

Poured this one in a Weisen glass, it poured a slightly hazy hay/light honey color with a thick dense head that faded surprisingly fast and left a nice thin white line. The smell was very nice, yeasty, hay and a slight lemon tone. The flavor follows the nose with bready/grainy flavors and hints of banana and lemon. Medium bodied w/excellent carbonation. Very drnkable brew.

A - A two finger bone white head rises over a cloudy marigold brew. The head shows good retention, but seems small for a hefe. I'm used to four finger snow-beast monsters looming over my weissen glass, and this one is a little anemic. The color of the brew is also a bit lighter than others, but it is vibrant and glowing in the light. A good amount of lace sticks to the glass, but this is a pretty average looking brew for the style.

S - I could smell loads of citrus and yeast before I put my nose in the glass, so I know this is going to be a nice assertive hefe. Yep. After sticking my nose in the brew I smell big doughy yeast aromas with some lemon zest. Maybe like a lemon-cake bar thing....I don't know what they are called, but this lady at work makes 'em at home and brings them into the break room. Not real complex. Basically yeast and lemon with some powdered sugar and the tiniest bit of clove.

T - Whoa! Now this sucker steps up to the plate! A big improvement over the weakish nose....this shows big cake-like yeast with tons of initial sweetness. The malt profile is clean and sweet like an Oktoberfest, and the hop profile is very mild but grassy. Lots of sweet banana baby food and banana flavored candy (laffy taffy) too. This is quite an impressive taste, especially after looking and smelling like a very average and uninspiring hefe.

M - Creamy and a bit slick on the palate with an initially zingy carbonation that quickly dances away leaving a creamy sugar coating in my mouth. It's medium bodied and finishes sweet with a brief tang of citrus and subdued hops. It feels very solid and well built in the mouth. Outstanding.

D - A damn good hefe that needs a bigger head and a bigger nose. I could drink the hell out of this stuff in the summer. The big-time sweetness, though balanced by tangy orange flavors and some gentle floral hops, could be a bit much after two or three. This is a great breezy and airy summer swiller!

I found this Austrian weiss to be on par with a lot of the German weiss I have had, really solid with a bit less carbonation. A good bit cheaper than it's German counterparts as well. Just discovered it at a market 20 or so miles away, might have to go back and clean out their stock. Give it a shot if you find it.

Poured into a large Chimay glass, this is a golden-orange colored beer with a modest head. The aroma is excellent: lots of clove phenols, delicious bubblegum fruitiness. The flavor mirrors this, making for a great hefe. The emphasis on the phenolic particularly delights me. The yeast delivers some really nice peppery character. Fruitiness is not quite as strong, but present. Bitterness is a touch higher than, say, Franziskaaner. The only downside to this beer is the lack of carbonation. Given some carbon effervescence, I might well have rated this 4.5 across the board.

Very drinkable and tasty.

Just finished off a nine mile run....err jog...and nothing replenishes like a good hefe and this is a good hefe.

Excellent banana characteristics on the nose...mashed bananas...banana pudding..

The taste takes on more of a banana bread type of flavor...yeasty...bready...bananany...also some cloves on the taste and a spritz of lemon....almost exactly how I like my hefe's to taste.

Not a bundle of carbonation...more creamy textured...

Great Hefe...Made is Austria but as good as most german Hefe's...

I received this beer as a part of a beer of the month club. I don't normally like wheat beers all that much, but this is one great beer.

This beer pours with a creamy white head that is about one finger wide, and it disappears quickly. The beer has a straw color and is hazy like most wheat beers.

The aroma has hints of bananas and cloves with a bit of lemon.

The initial taste is wheat, wheat, and more wheat, but the taste of bananas and cloves are very noticible. This is followed by a full wheat flavor and has a good deal of spicyness. The thing that makes this beer so good is how well all of the flavors are balanced. It finishes with (you guessed it) wheat, but a nice hint of lemon as well.

The body of the beer is very light and dry. Perfect for summer! I would reccomend it to anyone whether you like wheat beers or not.

1 pint .9 fluid oz bottle.

Appearance-Pours a bright white, tow finger with alright retention. Leaves a bit of foam on the glass with each sip. Colro was a pale and cloudy mix of banana and lemon peel yellow. Good consistant lacing.

Smell- The best smelling weizen I've ever had so far. Cloves, bubble gum, bananas, and fluffy crystal malts.

Taste- If any could understand whta this great weizen tastes like. It is more of an intangible sensation than ny traditional flavor profile. It reminds me of walking along the White River in Arkansas in late Spring. Lots of natural earthy water mixed with sunshine. That sounds terribly cheesy, but I think this is the best tasting weizen I've ever had. Alos noted some light grapefruit, Big League Chew, and the taste of lemon peels.

Mouthfeel- A good watery palate. Starts out crisp and citrusy and ends grassy clean.

This beer went very well with mamas homemade meatloaf with garlic cloves put in the loaf with some McIllhenny Green Jalepeno Tabasco sauce.
