Pours out a typical golden color, clear, and topps the glass with an average white foamy head that goes away rather soon.
The aroma is again nothing special. There are some malts and some (sweet) grains present.
The tatse naturally follows the nose. Sweet start, followed by balanced body coming together with mild (only just) bitterness.
Nice, drinkable, ordinary.

The Friendly Greek's singles collection continues to grow and it is always worth a stop in just to see what is shaking.

From the bottle: "Brewed with excellent barley malt and select hop".

I am watching the first Pens/Flyers game of the season and this will act as a nice nightcap. My pour created just over a finger of dense, French Vanilla-colored head with good retention that slowly fell, leaving nice lacing in its wake. Color was a deep-gold with NE-quality clarity (SRM = 5) and the trio of Croesus, King Midas and Mammon were at it again, hoping for a taste. Nose was simply redolent with Saaz hops! Man, I was ready. Mouthfeel was medium and the taste had an initial honey-like lager sweetness before the hops took hold and offset the sweetness with a beautiful grassiness. Finish was semi-sweet, beautifully balanced and a real torchbearer for the style. I may dream about this later tonight. If you are still not a lager convert, this may help to change yur mind.

Classic Pilsner appearance, a little bit paler though. The aroma is definitely more refined than in an industrial adjunct beer, without too much of an alcoholic character on it. The taste brings the usual bitterness of the hops expected here, although, in the same lines as in the aroma, with a more refined presence (compared to the brutal adjunct Pilsner beers).

Although not my favorite style in a formal tasting, it is my style of choice for an informal barbecue with family or friends. Maybe a Weissbier might do the job with more class, but I'm yet to try it.

This was my first Austrian Pilsner with a twist-off cap. Twisted and sniffed to reveal lemon grass. Poured into a pilsner glass, got no head at all, murky straw looking. Still smelling lemon grass, but with the added attraction of sweet honey-like malt.

Appearance: No head, straw colored. If this was a fog advisory, the visibility would be only about a mile. Reminds me of one of my un-filtered home brews.

Smell: Lemon grass, honey-like sweetness. As it warmed, the malt aroma was right up front.

Taste: Tastes like it smells along with some initial tartness. Begins with a honey-malt sweetness that rounds to a medium dry.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium light carbonation on the tongue. Medium consistency, heavy for a pilsner, but nice.

Overall: If it was cleaner looking with some top, I would be happier. That being said, I enjoyed this a lot because of the wonderful malty flavors and aromas.

The beer sloshes into the pilner glass from its green twist-off bottle. The beer is a murky off-yellowish color with a thin head. It literally looks like a urine sample. Well, hopefully better things to follow. The aroma initially is starchy vegetables, but as the beer breathes it turns more into bready pilsener malt. The starchiness continues onto the palate. Luckily a nice grassy bitterness comes to rescue. This lingers on the palate and reminds me I'm drinking a pilsner.
