I purchased this from Brass Rail in Campbelltown, enjoyed chilled in a mug.

The color is sunny golden with light haze and thick white cream with fine bead, lace sticks in spots and retention is very good. The smell is herbal, fruity, lemon-zest and light grassy hop aromas are present too with slight yeast mineral note adding to the blend of hops and malt. The feel is very good, medium bodied with moderate bitterness and mild sweetness with nutty malt texture and subtle yeast creaminess with a mostly dry finish.

The taste has a honey-like flavor with mild toasted grain and gentle yeast up front with slight herbal hop flavors coming through mid palate with a slight lemony aspect adding a hint of tangy flavor to the malt which is lightly nutty and with a slight flavor of mineral in the yeast but the dominant taste is a more noble-hop like flavor of saphir which adds a fruity element. The overall taste is a great blend of malt yeast and hops adding a dimension which is not common in the style, the aroma and flavor of Saphir is great and adds a brightness which keeps this bock from becoming dull at any time, I would certainly drink this again.

Pours a white head with a bit of retention and some lace. Color is a golden orange.

Flavor profile is surprisingly hoppy. I figured the hop profile from the dry hopping would have faded by now, but it hasn't. Clean, earthy, grassy, and spicy hop flavors. Malt profile is of light bread and biscuit flavors. Kind of on the sweet side of things as far as the malts go. There is a hint of citrus fruit flavor near the finish.

Mouthfeel: Smooth with a touch of bitterness. Light to medium bodied. Ends with a touch of dryness.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. It was easy drinking and very enjoyable. I'd definitely drink more of this.

Poured into a half liter stein a hazed honey color with a thinner white head atop,I like a little more of a head for the style.Wow the herbal leafy hops really jump out at ya in the the, nice and fresh, some toasted grain and an iron note compliments the hops well.Dryish upfront on the palate with mild toasted grain a bit of honey-like sweetness and drunken fuit comes into play with a nice lingering herbal hoppy finish. This is a nice version of a helles bock, the hops are big and fresh tasting, well done.

500 ml bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours moderately cloudy golden straw color with a 1 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big lemon, orange, apple, pear, pepper, floral, grass, bread, cracker, light honey, and floral/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, orange, pear, apple, pepper, floral, grass, bread, cracker, honey, and floral/yeast earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, light fruits, floral, grass, pepper, bread, light honey, and floral/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of malt, hop, and yeast ester flavors; with good robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very wel lhidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice hoppy Helles bock style. All around good balance and robustness of hop, malt, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

A: Pours a clear medium golden yellow in color with some light amounts of visible carbonation and some apricot highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy soapy white head that reduces to a couple of medium thick patches of larger bubbles with a thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of bready malts with some lighter amounts of spicy and grassy hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of bready malts that is the strongest flavor in the beer. The hops are mostly spicy in the taste and light to moderate in intensity with the faintest of grassy hints. Light to moderate amounts of lingering bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Moderately dry with some hints of alcohol warming in the finish.

O: I enjoyed the intensity of the spicy aspects of the Saphir hops in this brew and found it a little more interesting than the average Maibock / Helles Bock. I would definitely consider picking this one up again.

Pours a cloudy golden orange color with a one finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Streaks of soapy lacing left behind.

Earthy hop aroma with a floral, grassy character that's countered by musty funk, pale malt and light fruit. Hints of grass and pineapple followed by grass, straw, bread, biscuit and light fruit notes. The spicy, earthy hops really shine in the nose.

Chewy full body that's much heavier than I expected with a nice balance of earthy hops, bready yeast, pale malt and light fruit. There's a prominent spicy, grassy hop flavor up front that lingers over the sweeter notes into a slightly dry finished. Nice amount of dry bitterness that refrains from becoming one dimensional. Well balanced by bready yeast as well as hints of grass, straw, biscuit, apple and pear. The relatively high ABV is nicely masked making this complex beer pretty easy to drink.

Pours a clearish golden orange with fizzy one-finger head on top of a grassy, hoppy aroma with some citric and a sweet undercurrent from the pils malt (and touch of caramel - I swear). Great balance, light body and easy to drink, as the dry, citric hops mix well and balance with with sweet malts for a sweeter than usual maibock (that little dry twinge I usually get on the end of a beer of this style is less pronounce/muted by sweetness). It might not please some fans of this style, but I enjoyed the sweetness and breadiness from this beer that made it less dry than usual.

500ml bottle.

It pours a slightly hazed gold with a thick, frothy white head that recedes to some nice lacing.

The smell is pleasant. It is very much hinged on a honey meadlike scent that melts with some caramally malt. Te hops lend a big orangey citrus scent. This beer isn't optimally fresh but still smells pleasant. Like an orange blossom honey cake.

The flavor is really nice. Not like most heller bocks. This one isn't as sweet and the flavor and body both feel lighter and crisper than the typical helles bock. It has a nice honeylike flavor with a big malty punch, but the hops are still noticeable with some grassy bite, a mild bitterness, and some orange.

Overall not a bad one, it probably would be fantastic fresh.
