Very malty lager, pure grain aroma and taste. Slightly cloudy golden body, thin foamy head, bread, crackers, almost zero hop presence. Still easy to drink and another refreshing brew.

Rieder Classic has a thick, soapy, slightly off-white head, a very hazy, somewhat bubbly, golden appearance, lots of tiny to small suspended yeast chunks, and heavy lacing left behind. The aroma is of rich, pungent, sweet, barley malt aroma. The flavor is also of rather strong barley sweetness, bread, slight lemon, sugar, grain husk, and very mild hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and oily. Rieder Classic finishes mild, yet rich.

500ml bottle.

It pours a clear gold with a foamy, slightly creamy white head that sticks for a bit. Pretty standard.

It definitely smells pastuerized or something, and it isn't a pils I don't think. It is griany, slightly nutty with some oxidation.

The flavor is similar, I think it is old or something. Sweeter perhaps than the norm.

Poured from 500mL bottle into a Pilsner glass.

Appearance: silvery straw hue with about three fingers of creamy white head. There's a little haze to this beer, which surprises me in a Pilsner. It's not at all unwelcome, though.

Smell: a very nice, somewhat sweet and quite pure malt aroma wafts pleasingly from this brew. There's a very light fruitiness and some earthy hops present. This might be the best-smelling Pils I've yet encountered.

Taste: light, sweet and delicious malt. Tastes extremely pure, although it is a bit sweet. Bitterness is low, possibly too low for true balance because of the sweetness of the malt. Still, very tasty.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a good carbonation yielding a nice creaminess. I like it.

Overall: this is an extremely well-put-together Pilsner. The haze doesn't bother me and, if that's the trade off for this kind of purity in aroma and flavor, then that's a trade I'd make everyday. Just a stellar Pilsner -- easily my favorite so far.

Draft at Gourmet Haus Staudt. Pours a clear pale gold topped by two fingers of foam. The head retains solidly, and leaves plenty of lacing.

Pretty nice pils malt aroma, fairly sweet but thankfully not sugary. There's a mild noble hop character that lends an herbal undercurrent, and a slight note of pale honey.

The palate shows a nice balance, malty and semi-sweet initially, hoppier and drier in the finish. Grain and honey sweetness, citrus zest, fresh herbs, faint grassiness; quite a bit of flavor here. The body is light but not insubstantial. An excellent helles.

500mL bottle poured into a pint glass.

A - Pours a clear pale straw capped with two fingers of frothy white head.

S - Bready pilsner malt, cereal aroma, grassy/floral hoppiness.

T - Grainy, bready malt taste with a touch of sourdough, crisp hop bitterness, and a spicy/herbal hop flavor. Nice lemon zest flavor as well.

M - Light body with carbonation a bit too lazy to call this 'crisp.'

D - It's not my favorite take on a pils, but it works. Worth having again.

Pale blonde with a white shaving cream head that lasts and leaves sliding lace on the glass. Untoasted grain, hay, ripe banana, floral hop notes and fresh yeasty dough make for a good non-skunky example of the style. Fresh bready flavors with soft lemon and banana flavors with an herbal hop finish. Smooth and creamy with soft carbonation. A truly fantastic pils.

500 mL bottle,

A: Pours a lighlty hazy yellow with a firm white head with good retention.

S: I love the sweet sourdough bread and chalky character of the nose. Light hint of strawberry.

T: What good pilsner is about. Great full bread malt character, with a distinct flavour of earth, hay and grass. Off-sweet pastry flavour in the finish.

M: Simply smooth and easy. Great aftertaste.

D: This is a phenomenal pils. Reminds me a bit of Reality Czeck, definitely worth a pick up.
