The beer arrived at the table a crystal clear pale amber golden with a low white head that fell slowly to lace the glass.

The aroma was muted till the glass warmed. It was one of those frozen glasses so the aroma took some time to develop. The aroma was med caramel with some fruitiness and a slight hop presence.

The flavor was nice and hoppy with a strong crystal malt presence and cirtusy and grassy hop flavor.

The finish was dry with pleasant caramel and mild bitterness lasting well into the aftertaste. The body was medium and well accomplished.

Pint at Mellow Mushroom in Columbia, SC. I've had this one before, but this time it was great!

Another Palmetto brew from "Garagekegger",this one poured a clear copper with a nice one finger head that settles pretty quickly, aroma was dominated by sweet caramel malt also I picked up just a little biscuit dough but it was faint. Most definently a malt dominated pale ale, caramle is dominant upfront with a small dose of pine in the finish.A session-style ale in my opinion a little unbalanced but pretty darn good.

Had this on tap at the airport in Charleston. Poured a "roasted orange" color with a rocky, sticky off-white head that coats the glass nicely. Aromas are somewhat muted, with a good dose of earthy, grassy hops dominating. Flavor initially was nice on the ol' palate, but the finish is something else entirely. Good balance gives way to a strange aftertaste...very metallic and unpleasant. Bitter finish, combined with the metallic taste made this one rather difficult to finish. Mouthfeel is above average and well on the creamy side. Drinkability takes a hit as a result of the not-very-nice finishing taste. Pretty average in my book.

Palmetto Pale Ale. Had with lunch at Hymans Seafood. Basic red label with palmetto tree backgrond.

A- Pours a crisp and clear pale orange color with light carbonated head that falls to a light froth.

S- Caramel malts upfront followed with sweeter malt in the back of the nose... Light hints of hops are there but in a bitter sweet tangy scent.

T-M- Upfront flavors consist of sweet caramel malts and lightly bitter hops dominate the mouth with a lasting twang on the tongue. Mouthfeel is watery with light carbonation.

D- Drinkable but nothing special in my opinion.

Amber orange with hints of red and a nice foamy 1" head on top. A nice cirtusy/grapefruit hop nose along with some bready notes and sweet caramel.

The oven opens to reveal fresh baked bread and biscuits, each loaf baked with sticky citrusy hop cones. Grapefruit wafts through the air along with caramel maltiness. A tasty treat. Nice balance.

Chewy and full....a nice treat to drink. A good APA that I could definetly session. I hope I'll have the opportunity to sample this again in the future. Thanks are due to kmpitz2.

I see a half inch of white foam on the top of this beer and a nice golden hue. Brussels lacing. I get a nose of amber malt, barley, and pine like aroma hops. The body is fairly carbonated and somewhat salty and dry. I get an instant bit of gentle pine like hop bitterness very closely followed by a light and clean malt backbone.

Palmetto PA on tap at the Cork & Tap (SC).

slightly hazy light amber with a very good hea that leaves plenty of sticky lacing.

Feel: Crisp, lively carbonation with a near medium body.

Aroma: near balanced mix of hops and malts.

Flavor: lightly sweet up front; mildly bitter by the finish. Some grapefruit peel in the lingering aftertaste.

O: this APA is slightly aggressive but otherwise undistinguished.

Had this on-tap at Wild Wings in Hilton Head, SC.

Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a one-finger, off-white head. The head recedes into a thin pancake on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of faint citrus hops with good amounts of caramel malt. As the beer warms it turns a bit buttery.

Tastes similar to how it smells. Caramel malt flavors up front with citrus hop flavors that are slightly more intense than they are in the aroma. The ending is mildly bitter.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with moderate carbonation.

Drinkability is good. I didn't have a problem finishing the glass and could have another.

Overall this is a decent pale ale that could be improved if it was a little lighter on diacetyl. Worth a shot.

Thanks to oldirtysurfer for sending these out to me.
Pours a pretty chill hazed orange amber with a glass sticking white head that melts to a full top covering layer of sticky bubbles.
Aroma is very lightly toasted pale malt and light citrus hops.
Taste is again lightly toasted pale malt followed by very distinctively fresh grapefruit peel hops.
Aftertaste nicely drying...nice tingle from the carbonation.
This is great.
SNPA has NOTHING on Palmetto.
Wish it was here.

Color is a golden coppery yellow with an even head. Aroma is citrusy orange coming through. Taste is smooth and nice, somewhat chewy and sticky malt with a light balance of hop, quite mellow and very easy, and has a tanginess that is very pleasing. Your mouth will thank you for this one.

Overall this is one that you should check out especially if you're vacationing in Charleston, it is definitely and easy drinkin APA.

Palmetto is a malty yet slightly bitter pale. It is copper in color with foam off-white head that is lacing. The smell is weak....hints of citrus. The taste is pushed by a malty start with a bitter (grapefruit) finish. The body is medium to light with good carbonation. Overall it is ok....

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Pours a golden amber color with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet toasted malt and a touch of caramel and citrusy hops. The taste is similar to the aroma with some malt and citrusy hops in the long biter finish. Overall, this is a pretty solid pale ale. It certainly is not my favorite pale ale out there but it is a pretty solid offering that is recommended.

This beer pours a clear copper color with minimal head and hardly any lace. There is a faint hop aroma in the nose, but it wasn't incredibly evident. The taste is more malty than hoppy, which doesn't quite fit this particular style of an APA. Tastes more like an English pale, but still not a great one. This pale's body is rather light, too. I suppose this is an easy drinker, but it's just not one I'd want to drink very often.

Hazy, coppery-bronze in hue with a glint of amber; it’s a lovely color. Off-white foam, sadly the head never topped a half finger tall. Head retention was poor as well, a dainty soapy cap quickly formed. There was minimal subsequent spotty lace. Overall, this is a good looking (but average) beer.

The nose is VERY sweet. The maltiness is like a barleywine. I kid you not. Is my nose broken? Rich caramel notes with some dark fruit hints. The hops are in the background which is a bummer for an APA. However, the citrus notes play wonderfully with the malt. Fairly potent; I like the malt complexities. While the malt bill smells like a barleywine it lacks richness and that nearly tangible sugary quality. Still, I find this quite inviting!

Of course the palate does come close to matching the malt depth that the nose promised. Still, this beer tastes like a shadow of a barleywine. It is hard to explain. It has barleywine taste but “baby strength.” Of course this could all be in my head. If it is, so what… I like it! Caramel malts, dark fruit, with a citrus backbone. The malt is the driving force even though this isn’t terribly malty. How odd. The finish is a bit empty. As much positive I have to say about this beer it is all kind of silly. For an APA this beer is very average but I am reviewing this based on taste alone. I DO like how it tastes and that is all that matters.

Medium/medium-light in body, low but natural carbonation, with a fairly watery mouthfeel. IMO, the mouthfeel needs much improvement.

As much as this smells and tastes like a baby barleywine, its not. If I want a barleywine, I’ll drink one. If I want an APA, I’ll drink one. This is neither. It is not very hoppy or rich in malt. Sure, it has flavor but it lacks body. I am happy I tried this, it was interesting but one is enough for me. Thanks timtheenchanta it was enjoyable in the moment.
