The robust full-bodied flavor comes from the dark roasted malts and is accented with a coffee espresso roast by our friends and neighbors Charleston Coffee Roasters.

Very dark brown beer. Almost black. Thin, shallow head melts after a minute.

Strong coffee aroma. It's hard to detect anything else. Except maybe some roasted malt.

Upfront coffee flavor. Some sweet malt, but mainly on the bitter side. Bitter, grainy finish.

The heavy bodied mouthfeel carries this beer well.

This beer is OK. I'm not a huge fan of the coffee. I'd rather drink a straight-forward porter. But it could be a lot worse, for sure.

Picked up a 12 oz can from TW-Greenville, SC for $2.49. Canned 2-1-22; consumed 8-1-22. Cold stored since purchase.

Neer poured cola brown with a nice off-white head that has some good hang time.

Nose is nice, espresso forward.

Taste is nicely done with a typical fairly small malt base that incorporates hints of chocolate and then is dominated by the espresso addition. Finishes balanced with no astringency.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and fairly smooth.

Overall a nice base beer and espresso addition. Will need to get a sixer of this, always looking for a sessionable porter!

Palmetto Espresso Porter has a medium, beige head and a mostly-clear, bubbly, chestnut appearance, with minimal lacing. The aroma is of nuts and brown bread crust. The flavor is similar, with low sweetness and moderate bitterness. Palmetto Espresso Porter has a light to medium body, and a dry finish.

12 oz can dated 064-21

Ebony opaque appearance; one finger tan fine bubbled head, full cap and lacing curtains.
Strong coffee aroma.
Pleasant coffee, roast malt, vanilla, milk chocolate flavors.
Smooth feel, consistent carbonation, good balance.
A good coffee porter, solid product from Palmetto which I will buy again.

Very nice coffee porter! Cracked open a fresh can right here in South Carolina on vacation. A great bitter, roasty blend that hits the spot. Would be great to wake up to.

12 oz can purchased in Birmingham AL.
Tallgrass snifter.

Inky black body with a tall creamy head of almond and leaves a lot of lacing behind as it recedes to a finger.

Aroma brings notes of espresso and roasted chocolate with some hot chocolate sweetness and even a little bit of cinnamon (only perceived maybe). Some tin/iron/blood also wafts up.

Flavor could use some work as I'm mainly getting the tin/iron/blood with a little bit of ashy roasted malt. Some faint malted milk balls underneath that.

Feel is acidic and roasty, with mild to non existent heat and a sharp stabbing carbonation. Dry finish.

Overall not something I'm likely to return to. Many better coffee beers in the south. This one fell pretty short.

Price paid : $1.79 / can
Would buy again : not a chance

COD 282-18. Pours pitch black. World class head volume, lacing and quite outstanding retention.

Quite outstanding nose of dark bakers chocolate, espresso, coffee, roast and a bit of char. The base is slightly sweet bready malt. As it warms, the chocolate becomes a bit sweeter.

Light medium body with a smooth texture. Very subtle slick elements are also present. Carbonation / body balance is very good. It is a bit under carbonated. The middle is slightly effervescent and the finish more so.

The flavor profile is outstanding but lacks a bit of balance and complexity. As expected, espresso / coffee is the dominate component. Bitterness is mild and presents as herbal in a lingering finish. The middle is slightly sweet but chocolate doesn't really emerge to contrast the overpowering coffee. Char and roast are minimal and arrive late in the finish.
