12oz bottle served in a portsmouth tulip...not sure why I picked that glass, as I typically serve oktoberfests in mugs or tumblers, but it seemed to work well. Best by date of 11/24/11 makes me wonder how early Great Lakes brews this, or if they just give it a short shelf life.
A- pours a vibrant orange/amber with a solid 1-finger head. Very appetizing.
S- rich caramel, malty (obviously) with limited toasted character. As it warms, the hops really start to come through.
T- burn caramel with a healthy dose of hops. I can't place the varieties, but they seem more American than noble (as mentioned on the bottle). Either way they add some peppery spiciness. Bitter but smooth finish. Very tasty. Somewhat overhopped for the style, but I certainly won't complain.
M- Thin, crisp, a little sticky.
O- overall an incredible oktoberfest, and the best I've had in the style in a long time. Don't expect this to blow your mind in the way a crazy imperial kitchen-sink beer will - this is more subtle but incredibly satisfying...an excellent brew all around and one I'll certainly be revisiting annually. Perhaps the sum is greater than the parts on this one, as the overall score is higher than all of the other categories except appearance.

I know it's almost to early to think about the leaves changing colors, but this beer does just that. The amber color was clean and head great with nice lacing on the glass. Smell was nice and malty. On the front end the taste was smooth for a 6.5% beer and finished just as smooth. Overall a very nice for anyone looking to drink a good beer. I will get another six pack of this one.

Great Lakes Oktoberfest from Great Lakes Brewing Co., a seemingly early start, but whatever. Poured from the bottle into a liter glass drinking boot, this brew's got a 3 finger thick pale tan head, knockout lacing& a body that is the textbook definition of amber. What a sexy beer!
I smell gloriously roasted malts; perhaps a dash of caramel. A satisfyingly full aroma.
Tastes nearly identical. Full as they come and still crisp! Earthier hops balance this brew out JUST enough. I love the taste
Mouthfeel is smooth and clean. No lingering elements here.
Overall, a fist pumping 4.25 is given to Great Lakes Oktoberfest from Great Lakes Brewing Co. I implore you to give this brew a chance. It blew me away, obviously. This brew will be a staple in my fridge during its circulation period.
