12oz bottle, best by late April, poured into tulip pint.
A: Pours a clear golden amber color with a finger of creamy white head. Some carb bubbles flowing up through the glass. Mostly standard, solid IPA look.
S: Lots of caramel malts here, along with a bready aroma; a good deal of citrus, pine and grassy hops too.
T: Big bursts of orange and grapefruit lend this one a very citrusy flavor; the caramel and especially bready malts that were so prominent in the nose of this beer are pushed a bit to the back here, allowing the beer's better component (the hops) to shine.
M: Medium-thick body with just the right of carbonation (moderate), very smooth and very creamy- just like most of Great Lakes' beers.
D: Extremely drinkable; this one goes down easily, quickly, and with plenty of enjoyment. The hops might not be out in force as much as in many American IPAs, but Great Lakes used the English style to make this beer hugely drinkable- background malts (hate to call them that, as they're good in their own right, but I'm really digging the hops here) balance the hops flawlessly.
