crystal clear straw colored body with two fingers worth of white creamy head and ample lacing. smells of sweet malts, a little herbal like mint and lemon verbena. taste is pretty simple, nothing complicated or too overpowering. just a nicely blended ipa with enough malt backbone to balance the hops. mouthfeel has good carbonation but the body seems a little watery for me. not overly bitter or dry on the finish. overall i like it and it's easy drinkin, but just don't know if this will be a staple in the fridge.

12 oz bottle poured into a Duvel tulip.

A: Pours a orange/amber color that shifts to more of a copper shade when held near the light. At first glance, it seems like its filtered, but the specks of yeast help to break up the clarity. The head is a two finger white color featuring decent retention.

S: Has a fair amount of citrus and pine, but also some bright fruity esters that catch me offguard. It manages to be both malty and hoppy at the same time, evoking hints of complexity.

T: The flavor profile is even English-inspired than I anticipated from the aroma. There's a LOT of toffee to start out, and right before the dry, piny finish appears, brigher fruit esters try to pop up briefly, and comes on more strongly after several sips. The hops give off a slight tobacco flavor at times. It also features a bit of complexity to it which I enjoy. Definitely a solid IPA, if not a stellar one.

M: The texture and finish is a little syrupy, but it thankfully avoids being excessively sweet. Carbonation is about medium to medium high for the style. It's more of a slow sipper than a chugger due to the weight of the body and faint hint of alcohol.

O: I'd say the draught version was a little more enjoyable, due to how citrusy it was, but I enjoy this one's complexity. This is still a great choice for someone who wants an IPA to be more than a straightforward hop bomb.

I really wish Great Lakes came to Maryland, but alas...

I bought a 6-pack of this stuff on a whim tonight and I'm currently on my 3rd. I hope the review isn't too shaky

Stamped 12/11/12.

Presently, this is the #6 ranked English IPA in the world. Rock on!

Served in a Delirium Tremens shaped-glass.

A: Poured a crystal clear, two shades darker than gold color, with a whopping 2 finger head that clung to the glass and them some.

S: Sort of a fruit yeast mixture, with both playing a fine-tunes duet. Man, I'd love to bake some bread with this stuff!

T: VERY fruit forward in sort of an "Alpha King" kinda way, with some grapefruit staining the teeth on the back end. The yeast was fresh and inviting.

M: Not too bitter, but much more bitter than the Brits ever envisioned. The lacing was ridiculous and the brew itself was perfectly balance... except for the fact that it's not.

O: I can't believe it's taken me so long to get around and try this brew. Absolutely outstanding!

Poured into a glass mug.

A: Golden yellow with two-finger, foamy white head that lasted a couple of minutes. Okay lacing.

S: Strong citrus hop aroma. Not much toast or malt.

T: Light sweetness and moderate bitterness. Citrus hops and a bit more toasty than the nose suggested.

M: Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Smooth.

O: At first, I was expecting something more like an English Pale ale, but this is definitely an English IPA. A solid beer.

A: Dark golden brew with a 1/2 finger of white head that has moderate retention and leaves a fair amount of lacing.

S: A moderate amount of malts is there, and is necessary to stand up to the heavy hit of bright, citrusy hops.

T: Big sweet malts start of the brew and bring a slightly grainy, toasty flavor. They give way to the hops, which bring a welcome bitterness and a slightly piney flavor. the finish is dry and pleasantly bitter. The alcohol is amazingly well hidden for 7.5%

M: Moderate body, a decent amount of carbonation. It is slightly oily.

O: there is honestly nothing that stands out about this beer in terms of flavor, other than the fact that it is a remarkably well balanced IPA. The taste is an excellent blend of malts and hops, and I'm not one to complain about 7.5% ABV. Definitely a solid delivery.
