A: Poured into a Piraat snifter/tulip-type glass. Body is coppery-orangey-amber with ruby/mahogany undertones. A 1-finger khaki-colored head retains surprisingly well given the 8% ABV, leaves some solid lacing behind.
S: Caramel malt and citrusy - grapefruit - hops.
T: Caramel malt up front, with some brown sugar. Grapefruit and pineapple juice from the hops are next. Finishes with a lingering, dry - wood-like - bitterness on the back of the tongue (I think the alcohol is responsible for that drying finish). However, at the same time I'm still getting caramel malt and toffee sweetness at the front of the mouth. A neat trick if you can pull it off.
M: Body is a bit thinner than expected. Call it medium in heft, but it drinks like a beer that's a tad bit watered down. Carbonation is nice, presenting a good creamy feel to it.
O: A real nice beer. Reminds me of Stone Arrogant Bastard in a lot of ways.
