Pours a hazy, orangish-red with brown running throughout. Solid 1"+ high light tan head. Retention is decent and even, settling at a chunky, thick film. Good lace.
Smell is malt, hops, wood/straw, a hint of caramel. Balance is good.
Taste is better than the nose with notes of malt, floral hops, caramel, some pine as well. Balance is very good, complexity much better than others of the style.
Warming from the first swallow, drying starts before that. Hops are noticeable but not overpowering. Others can reach IPA levels, fortunately this one doesn't.
