Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass- pours a remarkably clear golden orange, less than a finger of head, mild retention, beautiful rings of lacing.
Smell is appropriate- pine and citrus hops with a bit of thick, malty sweetness. Definitely could be a bigger blast of hops but certainly pleasing.
Tastes fantastic! I'm proud of my hometown brewery for this one. Juicy citrus and floral hops up front balanced very well by the pale malt. Almost no caramel which is interesting but really highlights the hops. Bitterness comes soon after, and gives way to very citrusy hop flavors. Orange, grapefruit. Excellent.
Mouthfeel is very good for an imperial IPA- medium body with light quasi-prickly carbonation. I love it!

12 oz. bottle with a best by date of 8/15/12 poured into pint glass.
A: Slightly hazy gold/orange color with a one-finger white head. Retention is good. Can see some yeast settlement in the liquid, as well.
S: Heavy citrus smell, especially pineapple and mango.
T: Nice slightly sweet sugar cookie malt base supports a nice strong onslaught of hop flavors. The hops are mostly of the citrus variety (oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, etc.) However, there is a blast of pine at the end. With all the hop flavors present, it isn't too bitter. There's a shot of alcohol and a bit of metallic taste at the end, but bitter hops finish it off.
M: Wow...very creamy. This body is a great medium for channeling the strong hop flavors, and it keeps them around for a LONG time after the drink goes down.
O: GLBC makes some of my favorite beers, and this one is no exception. This is a top-tier IPA, for sure. The taste is surprisingly complex. Most DIPAs just assault the palate with hops, but there's more depth here.

Bottle (best by 7/17/12) enjoyed on 7/7/12 in a tulip.
Pour: Hazy orange with 3 fingers off-white head.
Smell: Straight grapefruits and oranges. Yup.
Taste: Completely follows the nose with bitter grapefruits. Some pine, but this is one fruity DIPA, almost too much so. Malts make this a little too sweet which I think promotes the overly fruity aspects.
Mouthfeel: Very, very juicy. Super refreshing, in a wake up and have some orange juice kind of way.
Overall: Good, but too much fruit juice for me.

Pours an orange slightly hazy/cloudy colour with good carbonation. Tastes of citrus, with tropical fruits in there to go with the good hoppy bitterness. Considering the high 9.1%, this drinks down very smooth and its well masked. This brewery pumps out some good, quality beers.

Very citrusy for a double IPA, without a lot of the spicy hop flavors or heavy malt notes, or accompanying pine often found in this style. I like that as a change of pace- tastes a bit like Sweetwater IPA if that were revved up to 9.1%- lots of grapefruit with a touch of orange, sweet clean malts, and a resinous finish that still comes off as fairly clean, and a short bitterness at the finish. Very nice.
