I thought I had already reviewed this but I am glad that I had not. This year's batch seems a lot better than I remembered it.
It's partly cloudy, but beautiful in the glass - a light orange. The aroma is slightly boozy, but not bad, and otherwise quite rich.
It tastes heavenly - a perfect balance of hops and malt - and the aftertaste is even better. The better beer vendors in the area ordered tons of this but it will go quickly. I'm going to go out and get a mess of it tomorrow.

12oz bottle poured into a mason jar
Pours a fairly clear orange amber with a yellow tinted two+ finger cap. Recedes slowly, leaving clingy lacing all over. Some tiny bubbles push their way north.
Big citrus on the nose. White grapefruit and orange rind mesh with pine resin and a hefty caramel malt bill. Definitely sweet and balanced.
The caramel malt is steady throughout. White grapefruit and orange rind greet you up front. The finish is more citrus and a rush of pine resin bitterness.
Medium body. Big and chewy. Some alcohol burn lingers for a while. Mild bitterness, but balanced out by sweet malt.
This is a big, hoppy dipa, but it is very balanced. Almost too much for me to fall in love. A good dipa.

A: Poured a dark but transparent yellow with good carbonation leaving a nice medium sized white cap, some bubbles and good lacing
S: Mainly tropical fruits, prominent pineapple with caramel
T: Upfront I garner pineapple, mango and orange peel with light caramel backing. Nice, dry and clean with a subtle but noticable hop bitterness on the end
M: Light to medium body with citrus and tropical notes dancing on my palate
O: Very good, enjoyable and something I would definitely drink again

I poured this beer into a pint glass, it has a nice light amber color body with not a lot of head to it. I can almost taste the beer just by smelling it, the smell consists of pine, and citurs hops. The taste is upfront of bitter hops, then the taste of some fruit comes on the back of the tongue, almost a cross between a mango/pineapple taste. The mouth feel is really good, rolls off the tongue really nice and overall a damm good DIPA,

Obtained a 4 pk, and bottles had a best-by date of 7/17/12 although they didn't have a bottling date so I don't know how old these are.
A - Pours a gentle orange color with a hint of reddish hue. Respectable one-finger white head quickly recedes leaving only a ring of foam around the glass. Looks good!
S - Here I knew this beer would be very good. Very hop-forward but it's more of the flowery, juicy, and fruity varieties than the extreme bitterness of some IPAs (like SN hoptimum). Mangos, a bit of pineapple, wet grass and a subdued malt background.
T - Bitterness upfront which was unexpected, but this quickly changes to the fruity flavors mentioned above. The fruity flavors need to be more explosive, but it's good nonetheless.
M - On the lower side of carbonation. Alcohol is there but quite subdued.
O - Unexpected (almost.. 'tangy') bitterness aside, this is quite the good effort by great lakes. Haven't ever been disappointed by them.
