Pours a clear copper color. 2/3 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of piney hops, spicy hops, sweet malt, hint of grass, hint of caramel malt, slight pale malt, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a strong bitterness. Tastes of piney hops, spicy hops, sweet malt, hint of grass, hint of caramel malt, slight pale malt, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, great appearance, good aroma, but bitterness overwhelms body.

Pours a very pretty mahogany color with a finger of head which pillows away after about five minutes and laces nicely. Sweet and piney hop nose. The pine is even more pronounced in the taste; it hits you right away and does not let go. Pucker up, the aftertaste leaves a not unpleasant bitter and dry feel. A nice big IPA after a good day of working on the house.

Doesn't feel like a traditional IPA has a similar vibe to the Christmas Ale, closer to an ale than a solid IPA

Wouldn't mind if this was in regular rotation at Great Lakes.
