A: Pours a deep, dark brown color with crimson highlights. A finger (or a bit more) of thick, off-white head tops off the glass.
S: Smell is of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts. Some sweet, fruity and nutty notes peek in, which are welcome additions to both the complexity and overall aroma.
T: Roasted barley, dark chocolate and coffee make up the bulk of the taste as well, with a slightly nutty finish. Nice balance of bitter and sweet. Aftertaste is of cocoa with a light burnt character.
M: Smooth and creamy, with moderate body and equally moderate carbonation.
D: A standby when I'm in Ohio; I always make sure to have at least a pint of this when I'm in town, with six-packs nearly requisite during the winter months. Well deserving of its great reputation, and a must-try for all beer lovers.
