Pours a clear, amber-orange color with a big, fluffy, barely off-white head easily 2" high. Nice amount of lace left behind though the awesome head drops to just a few clumps within about two minutes.
Smell is very well balanced and complex. Notes of malt, a honey-like sweetness, faintly floral hops, a touch of citrus too, plus some white grape and grass.
Taste is malt, hops, grapes, a hint of whiskey (!), grass, wheat and maybe a faint, very faint, oak note. Nicely done.
Almost medium bodied, medium effervescence is sharp initially but drops almost instantly. A tangy, almost metallic note remains, somewhat acidic. No knock on the beer as I bought this nearly a year ago. I'll write it off as an effect of age. For a lager, this is seriously good brew.
