Spicy and floral with rounded flavors of lemon, clover honey, and white flour. Very sharp finish, aggressively bitter but balanced all the same. Pilsner-like hopping with an almost creamy helles malt. The grain becomes almost caramelly, but never really rich or overpowering -- not even always noticeable. Very dry finish. Clean yeast stays out of the way, but unfortunately strips the nose of anything pleasant. Wholly to style with a numbingly hoppy kick at the end, this beer lacks the toasty biscuit edge I've tasted in some examples, but the hops are about as authentic as can be.

Relax, relax.

It is the best tasting beer I have ever come across. It's like they created a brita filter for beer and it pissed out the most reliable, un-offensive beer of all time. It's one of the greats, I just hope someone else sees it for how great it really is.

Pours a golden-orange with a slightly cloudy and hazy appearance. Small-ish, white head that dissipates to a thin layer after a few minutes and leaves minimal lacing on the glass. Aroma is kind of strange, at least to me. Nice malts and grains off the nose, very crispy, with a slight cheesy smell - sharp and musty. I don't know if this is intended or not, and I can't decide if it's good or bad, it's just... a little bit different. Also some sweet bread and a dense, underlying corn aroma. Taste is very crisp on the tongue, slightly bitter with a good balance of hops and grains. Certainly more malt and yeast than hops, but all-in-all a nice balance. Nice, sweet bread flavors come around more and more as it gets warmer. I still pick up a cheesy smell that transforms into a taste as the beer hits my palate, slightly sulfuric. Medium body, nice, tight carbonation.

Definitely a decent lager, but I feel the cheesy aroma was a little stronger than it was intended to be. Overall, still a nice tasting beer, and I'd like to try another one to see if I get the same cheesiness.

EDIT: had again recently, still had a cheesy aroma, though not as strong, and this time, not accompanied by the sulfuric character, either. Much more enjoyable this time around, although I still didn't fall in love with this beer. If I want a Great Lakes lager, I'd still reach for an Eliot Ness.

A: Pours golden straw into a standard pint glass. I see through you, beer. Has a tiny, half-finger head that is pure white. Leaves an attractive, thin, curvy lacing pattern.

S: I detect sweet malts, a nice biscuit aroma, some apricot, and a bit of a fresh hop profile.

T: Bready and yummy. A pretty sweet malt taste with a slightly dry, peppery flavor on the finish. There are some crisp apple hints in there, as well. This is a good tasting lager, for sure.

M: Maybe the best mouthfeel from a lager that I have had. It has a medium to full bodied character on the palate that really hits all of the right happy spots.

D: Well, this would be a great candidate for a session beer. The only thing holding me back from giving it a slightly higher rating is that it's a little on the sweet side for me.

A: This beer is a bright and clear medium gold with a long lasting white head.
S: This beer has a medium hops aroma with that noble hops style closely behind that is a soft, sweet Pils malt aroma. It has clean fermentation without any ester or phenols and just a faint hint of DMS.
T: It has a medium-high hops flavor balanced by a Pils malt flavor and a bit of sweetness. There is a nice hops bitterness throughout that carries in the finish
M: A soft medium body and medium carbonation.
O: This is an outstanding beer that is wonderfully balanced and very satisfying. The armoma is amazing where the first whiff lets you know your in for a real treat with a well crafted beer. I'm totally lacking in my ability to describe what going on beyond those two primary notes of malts and hops in the aroma and flavor but it's pure magic.

Freshness date on this is 12/24.

A: Nice one finger, fluffy head. Liquid is a nice clear gold with a small amount of carbonation visible. Retains a small head throughout. Some nice big topographical looking lacing.

S: Nice round malt smell - very bready. Some hop that is mostly citrus but has a hint of fresh cut grass.

T: Very much as you would expect but very well done. Bold, bready malt with a crisp and slightly zesty hop. Very well balanced. The finish and aftertaste is nice and sharp - a nice way to lead into the next sip.

M: Medium carbonation that is just perfect - not too sharp. Mouth feel is fuller than you would expect.

D: This is just a really well made beer. I'd be happy to drink this at any time and I'd also be happy to knock down a good few. A pretty darned nice session brew. I have yet to have a Great Lakes beer that I didn't like.

Bright golden orange pour into my tulip glass with a nice inch of white head on top. Fresh and vibrant. Nose has a nice floral/citrus hop aroma along with a hint of spice. Not bad.

A nice spicy barley flavor runs over my tongue with smatterings of citrusy, floral hops. A nice sweet pale malt backbone, crisp and refreshing. Quite impressive for a lager if I do say so myself.

Mouthfeel is bountiful, with a wonderful body that doesn't have that watery feeling. Drinkability here is good as well. This would be a damn fine summer beer....beach...barbecue. Take a sixer and enjoy. It doesn't weigh you down and it's refreshing to boot. Nice job.

I suck at describing lagers, so be forewarned.

Small white head on the pour, sits on top of a golden, straw colored body. Perfectly clear with plenty of bubbles that rise to the surface. While the head wasn't large it still left some really nice lacing on the way down.

Wow, pretty strong aroma. Lots of biscuity malts, straw and some earthy hops. A bit of a yeast characteristic as well. Smells quite nice.

Flavor varies from the aroma a little bit. Has a solid malty base of biscuit malts again, less yeast, but still some earthy hops in the finish. Has some floral tones throughout. This is probably the most flavorful traditional style lager I've had.

Medium mouthfeel with a good bit of carbonation to make it crisp. Goes down really easy but still quite flavorful.

This beer was actually a Christmas gift from my uncle! Keep all the hoaky gifts and give me some great beer and i'll have a WONDERFUL Christmas - my family knows me well.

A - This is a nice looking beer. It's crystal clear and alive with tiny, steady bubbles effervescing into the liquid for the duration of the glass. It's as gold as the name would imply with a half-inch thick white, smooth head that is gone before I make it back for my second sip. The beer keeps some dense spots throughout. It's really a nice looking beer.

S - Smell? This beer smells awesome. It is deep, deep character cloaked in simplicity. The first aromas are of biscuit malts. Sounds simple - but smell more deeply and there's a sweetness to the malt aroma profile, as well, almost like fresh cut grass. This blends so perfectly with the spicy alcohol notes and the perfect touch of fresh hops. Haha I'm going on here but it really is sublime...

T - Again - this beer is right on. It's sweet up front with maybe a fleeting brett flavor (?) set off nicely with a bit of accumulating bitterness from a glorious hop flavor. Now, let it be known, I am a hop-head. I can't deny it. This beer is no IPA but there is something about the hops in this beer that grabs my tongue by the taste buds and give it a nasty, French kiss wrapped in buiscty, malty glory. In an awesome way. As this beer sits, the alcohol notes become slightly more pronounced, rounding out the flavor profile (and perhaps the body of the beer changes adding to the perception of 'roundness') adding just the suggestion of spice.

M & D - This is a really drinkable beer - the carbonation is proper to the nitty gritty. It's never too fizzy or flat. The body is not watery or thick but seems just right. This is not an "intense" beer like a lot of American breweries tend to be making these days. But instead this beer comes off like a beer that knows it has nothing to prove and puts forward unpretentious flavors in such a way that delights even the most seasoned palate. Really good beer from the edge a dirty-nasty lake.

Presentation: It was poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: The color is a beautifully bright and golden with great clarity. Its head has great retention and builds up thick and creamy white. Lots of cool lacing is left behind on the glass.

Smell: The aroma is full of fruity sweet malts and aromatic floral hops.

Taste/Mouth feel: The flavor and body are wonderfully balanced. The malt has a pleasant sweet fruity character offset by flavorful leafy and crisp citrus hops with mild bitterness that quickly fades into the finish. The body is light to medium with a smooth yet crisp texture that is perfectly balanced with carbonation.

Notes: It is just darn good and very drinkable.
