2 years later, almost to the day, I thought I'd re-review the Gold because I grabbed a fresh sixer yesterday.
Just a little different impression from the past, but here goes:
A -- Clear, deep gold with reddish highlights, but not bringing it to amber. Thick and tight off-white head that holds up well.
S -- Bready and yeasty, followed by some mild vegetal character -- not quite DMS, but I wonder if it's from a certain brand of domestic Pils malt as I've noticed a similar character in some of the German-style beers brewed by US micros. Just not as clean as the German beers.
T -- Bready malt up front followed by an earthy hop character finishing with hop bitterness.
M -- Medium body with a soft to crisp mouth-feel.
D -- There's a lingering, heavier malt character in the aftertaste that keeps the flavor from being clean and refreshing and thus more drinkable. It's not a bad beer at all, just not as drinkable as I remember.

A: As the name suggests, it pours a bright gold hue with a small amount of carbonation. Thin head that doesn't much lacing if at all on the glass.
S: A little to be desired. A faint bready-grain wiff. Maybe some cereal. It's a pilsner, can't expect too much.
T: Extremely well balanced. The cereal is more assertive at first and then comes the sweetness from the malts. In the end, one can get a slight taste of booze, but it pairs well with the cereal.
M: Full-medium bodied. A little creamy from the carbonation. Leaves behind a small film in the mouth.
O: A simple but awesome pilsner by an always reliable brewery. There's nothing super extravagant about this beer, but it's pegged down the basics and it's done it well. Personally, I could drink this all day it's so smooth and good. If you're wanting to get into the pilsner style, start here.
